Hey all, I'm having an odd issue with my new Maz 38 NR, and 1x12 convertible cab. I've reached out to the dealer, but I wanted to ask the group if anyone's run into this before. I'm getting a very harsh buzz from the speaker, which is worse when I'm using the bridge pickup of my Jaguar. At first I thought it might be the EL84's rattling (I've read that's an issue?), but I had isolated the head from the cab and still heard the buzz. I made some recordings tonight, it seems even worse under the microphone compared to how I'm hearing it in the room. This was recorded with a Sennheiser e609, placed right next to the Z logo. I'm looping a chord while adjusting the Master Volume - the buzzing doesn't occur until the master reaches 10-11 o clock. drive.google.com/open?id=0B1IXvBhurLeJTjFUUkxEaUN6bTgThe speaker is a Z-12 - could this be a symptom of a new speaker that just needs some breaking in? I haven't had much of an opportunity to crank it since it arrived. Could this also be a tube issue? One of the EL84's flashes brightly when the amp is turned on after the tubes have cooled completely. I'm using a Johnny Marr Jaguar into the High input of the Maz 38The amp is set clean, Master at 9, Cut at 9, Bass at 11, Mids at 11, Treble at 12, Volume at 9. The Brake Lite is inline, but with no attenuation applied. Speaker cables are Lava Tephra. Sorry for the long post, I also posted this on the Facebook Dr. Z Amps Club, apologies if cross-posting is frowned upon

The Z-12 speaker sounds good out of the box, I can't imagine an issue there. Based upon the reports that I have read it seems fairly common for the stock EL 84's (JJ's) to have an issue. I would start there if you have a spare pair of 84's.

I've had a similar issue with my Maz 38 and it turned out to be tube related. Replaced the EL84's and it fixed the problem. I've had all sorts of weird problems with JJ's(not sure if that's what you're running in your 38). Reach out to perryr. He has the goods when it comes to EL84's. Doc has posted about his tubes here.

I recall someone here having a similar issue and it wound up being the grill cloth buzzing. Try pressing lightly on the grill while you run the loop. Hope that helps...

Hi all, apologies for the delay on the follow up. The issue ended up being a manufacturing defect with the Z-12 speaker. Don in repairs got me sorted out super quick, sent me a new one and I'm up and running - sounding great!
