I would review the FAQ troubleshooting section on the Dr.Z main website first. To me it sounds like a bad electrolytic capacitor in the power section which is easily remedied. Don't panic, you don't have to have an old amp or even abuse it to have this happen. Had this happen at least four times with other tube amps. And yes the first time it happens can really rattle you to say the least!

Yup, filter cap. Had this happen with my Z-28, sent it to Doc and he replaced all of them and gave it a thorough check up. It happens.
