After a too-long hiatus from Z's, I'm finding myself considering a Therapy. I was super interested in them when they came out - maybe I should have followed my instincts . I do wish these babies had an effects loop though...but I digress. I'm curious to hear what people are using for a cab. I'm not sure if it can exist, but I want: - Light weight - Compact size - 1x12 - That percussive/woody/thumpy tone if you know what I mean. To be clear I'm not talking about the aggressive chugga chugga type of thump associated with metal, but that organic and authoritative percussiveness you hear in great vintage tweeds and Marshalls. I'm not opposed to a Neo speaker if it brings the tone. Thoughts/suggestions?

Wow Purpletele - both are cool rigs but that little Therapy set up is sweet! Do you get ample lows/thump from the small cab?

What's your max weight? The Z-Lux combo's not a back-breaker, and it's get plenty of thump.

Hmmmm, I don't understand the question... Ha! No, it appears that you just disqualified yourself from providing a response to my question ;-)

Doc's own cabinets have all come down in weight a bit.

Well, here's a related, adjacent tip for you: my favorite speaker with the Therapy (and I'd been through a LOT of them right about the time I owned my Therapy) was the Tone Tubby 40/40 Ceramic. A lot of thump in that speaker, but still broadly versatile—it's like everything the Celestion G12H-30 wants to be.
Mind you, it's not a "lightweight" speaker, but in a quality lightweight cab, it would be great. I'd suggest perhaps the Avatar Speakers G112 Traditional Cube—it'll be not heavy (not specifically lightweight, though), great size (17 x 17 in.), and has the depth to still project some bass.

The lows are tight and punchy but not as deep as the Mather Cabs. It's a really cool cab with the Therapy, but it's real home is below.

I'm not opposed to a Neo speaker if it brings the tone. Thoughts/suggestions? I've got a suggestion, keep it simple with the Z 1X12 convertible cab. It's VERY hard to beat. There's just something about this cab I love that I haven't found in other cabs I've used. I have two of them and a 2X12 Z cab. The only cab I ever use is the single 112. It's always enough. Matter of fact, the last time I played out with the sound guy miced it off to the side because he swore it was a smaller 2X12. I had to show him there was only one speaker in it. You might wanna double check me but I think that Z cabs are now lighter than the one I have. If that's the case then your decision should be easy. I like my Creamback 65 in the single cab with my Therapy but you can research speakers by asking questions and reading past speaker threads.
