I've had my Maz18nr up for for sale because as much as I love that model, Fender cleans always pull me, and I recent'y tried a Wooly Coats Spanky that I thought was it.
The used market is slow, and a sale is not looking to be in the works, but I have been contact by a guy who lives pretty close who made a trade offer - his mint condition EZG50 head for my Maz combo. It means I'd likely have to buy an attenuation - and doubtlessly a cab - lol. I've read a lot here suggesting it's actually easier to dial in great low volume tones on it than the Maz, despite it's much higher output potential.
Thoughts? I play classic country cleans, to Blackberry Smoke ranges of gain, and am a pedal nut ;-)

I've had both and I'd do it in a minute if the EZG was a post 2012 model or has had the bass mod done (and wasn't red). All personal preference though. The Maz NR combo I had was my first Z and I owned it for at least 10 years. After going through several el-84 based Z models over the years, I eventually went back to 6V6 and 6L6 based amps. It seems like you could get a couple hundred more for the Maz than a used EZG would cost but it's a buyer's market out there. Also something to be said for a local sale\trade. I don't use pedals or attenuators so I can't address that part. The EZG is a big, heavy, loud head though. The EZG pre\post is not the same animal as the master on the Maz. Good luck.

If you are looking for Fender cleans the EZG definite will deliver the goods! I have a pre-2012 and I actually like it more than the modified EZGs (I'm not a big fan of bass so I'm ok with it.

I think you would be happy with that trade. I only played one briefly but I could tell what it was about.

The Maz combo currently sells for $1899 and the EZG sells for $2099. Sounds like a fair trade to me. On the used market you might be coming out around $100.00 to $150 ahead.

It's a 2009 - no bass mod if I had to guess.

Check out some of the older EZG threads regarding the bass issue with the earlier ones before you go to try out the one you are interested in. That way you will know whether it will work for you. The Doc changed the bass profile and offers the mod for the earlier ones for a reason IMO. YMMV

I like the Pre bass mod EZG's... don't let that deter you if the EZG's more your style / flavor... They work FINE and I just turned the bass off... then barely turned it on / to taste (usually around 8:30 on the dial)
and yes the PRE POST is usually set a bit diffferently... usually I set them around the same point for both however loud I needed it...(as in if the pre is around 11:00 the the Post is set around / maybe just above 11;00)
Great amp... love may Maz Jr and will never not have one, but the EZG is a very special 6L6 amp IMHO.
Head IS the way to go and get a separate cab... it's heavy. .02

I tried an EZG this past spring and I LOVED it!!! If I had the coin, I'd have one for sure.

I sold my Maz and bought a EZG. I'd been listening to a lot of Dan Patlansky and learned that he was an EZG guy. Gets me closer to the tone in my head.

I love my Maz, and still use it mainly for my Tele..But, my new go to is the EZG with Z's 4x10 cab and my Lentz S style. Best tone Ive ever had. Im chasing the Matt Schofield thing. Im not exact, but pretty darn close. Especially after turning my pic to the side. Great amp!!!
