I've tried many speakers with the Therapy, and it always sounded a little too dark for my tastes. I had an old V30 from the 80's that I tried and didn't like, so I shelved that idea until this week. I decided to buy a new one and try it out...and I now understand why Doc likes the V30 with the Therapy. It's the best choice. I was using one of Doc's Z-12 speakers and it sounded good, but the midrange hump of the V-30 is just what the Therapy needs to come completely out of any limitations and open the tone up. Mine's in a Z 1x12 cab open back and it sounds terrific, even just out of the box. Usually I break in a speaker on my variac for a couple of days but I think this time I'm just going to leave it. Sounds great, why fix something that's not broken?

A person should need to have written permission to vary from the following:
Therapy: V30 Remedy: Greenbacks

I just tried the Therapy with the WGS G12A and that is a super duper nice speaker

I'm tempted to try the Blackhawk and put it up against the Gold.

@irreversal,
You tried the WGS version of the V-30, and then it was up for sale.
1. I'll take it and try it if it collecting dust.
2. What did you not like about it

I've never been a fan of V30's, but I figured I'd try the recommended speaker with the Therapy since I like the Gold with the DB4 so much. Way too much mid range, especially with humbuckers, and tons of ear fatigue. I prefer a Creamback M or a G12H30 variant, those speakers actually seem to take input from the EQ controls.

I happen to have one that is 20 years old, so this will be interesting to see how it sounds compared to this video. Also taking into account that you said you had an older one that didn't sound good. Right now I have the Cream Alnico in there and it is quite nice, I also just tried the WGS G12A and that is super articulate. I would have to say my options are pretty good!

BV, How do you like the Cream Alnico compared to the G12A??? I love how everyone hears things differently. That's what makes the world go 'round!

@irreversal,
The Cream Alnico is like the Rolling Stones Black Hat! It is articulate but nasty. I really like it with my Therapy, the Blues Junior Plum Case that it is in is really snappy, so the amp has a dark mystical feeling.
The G12A is much different and I like them both very much. The G12A is so precise and articulate but it doesn't sound tinny at low volumes nor does it pierce you and household volumes. I am referring to the Gold in a house syndrome. The G12A is bright and pleasant.
I really like the G12A, but for now the Therapy get's the Cream.
Chicks dig that speaker!

Dave-thanks for unknowingly helping me out-I also am useing the Z-12 in an open back Z cab with the Therapy and have been contemplating buying the V-30 for this set up since Doc likes it.Now with your info,I am defenitely ordering a V-30 this week.

Cool, I helped someone today! It makes a big difference. I can't really point to one certain thing, it just sounds more immediate and clear. Breaks up really well and sounds great clean or driven.

I've been using the Creamback 65 (8 ohm cab) with no complaints. After reading this thread I decided to try out my 16 ohm Vin 30 that I have in a Z 212 cab.
I liked the Vin 30 but just can't decide on if I like it better than my Creamback. I did notice less low end with the V30 and that it was brighter overall.
Here's the problem with Z amps, they all sound good to me with whatever I'm using. I'm still trying to decide on if I like the Ghia over the Therapy. Those are my two amps.

I went through a ton of speakers with the Therapy. Settled on the WGS Vet 30 and love it.
