Here is the situation: I love my Z-verb, but the stock footswitch cable is too short. I have to set it up behind me, at least when we are on bigger stages and I would prefer not to do that.
I have a little cable extender I can put on it, but I am wondering if the cable has to be shielded to avoid noise. Does anyone know the answer to that question?

The power cord is short on my ZVerb but the on/off switch is long. Like 20-25'. It doesn't seem shielded as it's just a small grey cord....but I don't know for sure.

I remember Z stating that the grey cord is shielded, the black one is not. Keith's right on about the shielding being absolutely needed. The amp signal goes out and back through that cable, and it's subject to noise and RF interference.

Yes the Reverb FS must have a shielded cable. We have solved that issue with cable length on the new released Z Verb. The new FS for the Z Verb has a 1/4" jack instead of a cable, so all you need is a guitar cord the correct length. Your old pedal can be easily modified , remove cord, install jack.

I solved my dilemma basically the same way as the upgrade. I just used a Switchcraft 1/4" female to female mono connector at the end of the cablel and added a short guitar cable to make it longer. It works perfectly.

Wait... you get a footswitch? i just got my brand new Z-verb today (silver to match my z-wreck silver set!) and they didn't give me a footswitch. lol figures. From the Z-Website description of the Z-Verb on Dr. Z Amps.com: Bust out the surfboards boys and girls…time to ride the crest of the Z-Verb! Dr. Z’s first all tube spring reverb unit is finally here. The Z-Verb will handle all of your reverberation needs. Anything from subtle ambience to full on space exploration…the Z-Verb can do it. With a classic 3 knob set up (Dwell, Mix, and Tone) you can control all parameters of your reverb. The included footswitch let’s you turn the unit on and off when needed. Contact your dealer to find out how you can get your foot switch.

Thanks everyone.
I just spoke with the dealer, Palen Music Center, and they claim they spoke to a Dr. Z amps rep and was told it doesn't come with a footswitch. They said they would doublecheck and get back to me. so i'm waiting to hear from them.

They said they would doublecheck and get back to me. so i'm waiting to hear from them. When I got mine from Palen Music...it did. Dr Z website says Bust out the surfboards boys and girls…time to ride the crest of the Z-Verb! Dr. Z’s first all tube spring reverb unit is finally here. The Z-Verb is equally at home with a Dr. Z Amp as it is paired with another fine company’s amp. You’ll find it works exceptionally well with the built in effects loop on some Z models as well as plugged into the front end. All hand wired right here in Cleveland, Ohio, the Z-Verb is a must for any true connoisseur of fine tube-driven spring reverb.
