The glorious Reverb of my MAZ 38 has been pretty lacklustre for awhile now. I pulled out the Reverb tank tonight to discover two of the springs had completely detached and were rolling around in the tank. Is this fixable?? thanks

I've always had to order a new tank. Easy and not too expensive.

I haven't looked inside of the new tanks. If the point where the springs were connected to the transducer is broken then the tank is toast. Get a new one from Z. I think you can buy the same thing from Antique Electronic Supply.

Yeah, considering it's a 2004,and has been gigged all over the Praries and bounced down more than one country road, highway, and even Ice Roads in its life, things like this are bound to pop up from time to time. Incredibly Road Worthy Tone Machine!!! She'll be back up and running in no time,a'tall. Thanks

Considering all that it's a wonder it lasted as long as it did. I lived and played in North Dakota for 3 winters and I know how hard that harsh cold is on equipment when it's being hauled in an unheated trailer. I never had to deal with an Ice Road though. Just blizzards and -30F temps. I was playing a Traynor at the time. Those were TOUGH amps.

My replacement tank was under $30 shipped from AES.

I replaced one in a Max 8 and a Blues Junior with one from AES. It's fairly easy.

4 screws and 2 plugs. Easy peezy...and I would bet that yours is indeed broken. Those springs don't normally just jump off their hooks. If you do order from someone besides Z, the alpha numeric code on the reverb pan specifies the required impedances, so you'll need that info.

My Maz Sr is a 2005 model, and like yours has done a ton of gigs. When the original Accutronics reverb tank became unrepairable I replaced it with the current MOD tank. However as it was very slightly deeper than the original it wouldn't fit in the same position in the head cab, so it is now mounted on the back of the front panel. It works fine, and I remember thinking it sounds slightly smoother than the original.
