Hi folks,
I am on the fence here.
Like the idea of analog but like the idea of true bypass.
Not into surf music, just want the most real verb sound.
Can't say money is no object but wouldn't want to buy a Blue Sky and then decide for a Z Verb.
I don't have any way to try before I buy.
Any advice one way or the other would be appreciated.
Also, BTW the amp is a Z Wreck.
Thanks, Jerry

I can only speak to the Zverb. I have yet to hear anyone buy one and not like it a lot!

I have a Z-Verb and I use it with my Maz 18 NR and Z-28. It's dead quiet and gives me everything I need.

My 2 cents. Live, no one will ever know the difference. At home or recording, it's hard to beat tube reverb. The Z-verb is wonderful.

But what is "real reverb sound"?
Spring Reverb?
Plate Reverb?
Digital Reverb?
Convolution Reverb?
All of them (except for full on convulution) are trying to be something that wasn't there in the first place.

Good point, that is why some would think a tube reverb would be more natural than digital, kinda like the old tape echo units.

Strymon makes GREAT stuff. No doubt about that. I love my Flint and the Blue Sky is even more tweakable. I've never played through a Z-Verb but I have played through several other tube reverbs and they all did more than just add a reverb effect. I have to believe the Z-Verb is the same. It's hard to describe what they do. The reverb effect just seems to be bigger and "rounder".
I guess if you are wanting something that can dial in an accurate reproduction of a certain size room or hall then I'd go with a Blue Sky. Especially if you need to put it on a pedalboard.
If you want to make your guitar sound "larger" go with the Z-Verb.

Well the other thing my ZVerb does is "soften" the signal a bit and warm/round it off. I tried a Spaceman Orion vs a Strymon Flint and took home the Orion.....but the ZVerb beat out the Spaceman by adding in that warmness and compression that only Tubes give.
The ZVerb can act like a room reverb or be more springy... the Orion felt springy most all the time.
I've had trouble with tube ZVerb live sometimes....feedback and noise from a pounding loud band. I've not played out enough to dial in or out the quirks of Tube reverb. My only unsureness would be for band stuff in louder atmospheres....they've done it in the past I'm sure, but I just go without reverb when live most of the time anyway.
Could be my tubes are a bit microphonic and I don't notice at home but with the band they pick up extra noise.

A sheet of SOFT foam rubber under it might help. I played in a band once with a lead singer who jumped around on stage and I had to do that for the spring reverb in my amp.

Thanks for all the input !!

Have not had time lately to do some serious playing but right off the bat, a more vintage tone than the Lexicon reverbs I am used to. Did not like the way I couldn't stack the unit on top of my Z Wreck but I guess a small flaw.

I thought the same with my Therapy but was told it should be okay.....Pretty sure anyway.
