The Z lux phase inverter is a Tung sol AX7. JAZ comes stock with a Sovtek AX7LPS.
Just wondering if anybody ever compared these two in the phase inverter of any of their Z amps.
I have a JAZ and am contemplating putting a Tung sol in V6 per Doc recommendation with Z lux.
I wonder how dramatically the phase inverter could change the tone? If it matters, I'm also using 5881s in power section.
Thanks.

Other than a short period when I was using a 12AT7 for the PI in my JAZ I've always stuck with the stock LPS tube. This subject interests me as does any differences between the JAZ and Z-Lux. I've always liked 12AX7LPS tubes in that position in amps that use a 12AX7 because they last longer. I buy them balanced too because that's the only position where I use them.
