My desert island amp. Volume at noon, perfect gigging volume and perfect amount of hair on the notes. Can't wait to play at rehearsal tonight!

WOW John, nice demo of your new 1/2 power Z Wreck combo. Excellent playin' and excellent tone with a touch of delay. Thanks for recording and posting it. Can I have your permission it use this video on my Z Wreck web page?

The ZWreck has always been the pinnacle amp to me. I've ne'er' climbed that peak .... the half power switch makes that amp fit into a small fry like me's lifestyle much more. Ahhh Geez. The 'Wreck is REALLY one of the all time best amps ever now. Perfect for any size player.
Lucky dawg! Enjoy!

I know Fender purists will disagree , but to me, this is what a T-style guitar should sound like amplified. One of my all-time favourite tones...it never gets old (to me, anyway!)

Great playing and awesome tone.
Not to hijack the thread but I would like to ask a question if I may.
I didnt look at this amp as I felt I already had a bunch of el84 amps, 1974x, ac15, dz30, Tiny Terror... And I felt I should get something different. I got the Z-Lux and dont regret it one bit but it makes me curious, how much does the tube type actually affect the tone? If you take the same circuit and put different tubes in it does it produce dramatic differences? Is the tube type a good reason to consider some amps over others?
If this is the wrong place I can post else where.
Thanks for the demo!

I think it's all in the voicing and circuit the builder is going for. I'd love the half power Wreck over my Maz Jr I would think. But then again, there's the EMS and of course lack of money.

Before you had the 1/2 power capability, did you run it with the volume at noon and attenuate it? To get it close noon I'd have to have it on 3 or 4 on the airbrake and it was still pretty loud. Granted that was with a Gold and a Blue.

So, would you say the half power mod is a better volume reducer than the brake lite? I've got a Zwreck coming this week and I'm trying to decide! I'll definitely need less volume. Thanks! Jason

Jason I definitely like the half power mod better. To get to the same volume the brake lite would compress too much for my taste. With the half powerr mod and a brakelite you would be able to use the amp on any gig. small coffeeshop stuff to big outdoor stages. For me, the half power mod was a game changer.

Before you had the 1/2 power capability, did you run it with the volume at noon and attenuate it? I did. I found that I had to attenuate it too much when running the amp near noon.

I know you already answered the Brake lite vs 1/2 power question but I wanted to pick your brain some more. Do you play with a loud drummer? I run my Wreck with a 1 Gold, and I find that for most smaller places I set the BL to 2 clicks. That is usually never too loud loud. I set my volume around 11. I sometimes run the BL on 1 and sometimes don't even use it at all. My thought is that the 1/2 power mod might not be as helpful to me in my situation. What are your thoughts?

Honestly the different tubes gave mostly a subtle difference. The biggest difference was in overall output.
