FYI, i tried some RFT 12AX7's purchased from Mike K at KCA NOS tubes in an effort to warm up my maz jr which sounded a bit harsh with telecaster and JJ 12AX7's.
The result is just what i was seeking, warmer, quicker break up and more ability to set the treble and cut at higher settings!
I have some Sevetlana 12AX7's coming soon and will test them out and report.

I have some Sevetlana 12AX7's coming soon and will test them out and report. So far, I like the EI-ECC83 tubes in the Maz 18 better than anything I've tried. They're warm, rich, fat and musical. I run my Cut knob max'ed out (for the increased gain and fatness for best pedal overdrive tones), but the Treble is kept around 10:00-10:30, depending on the room. I've found that distortion pedals also seem to really work well with the Ei-ECC83s. Another tube you might wanna' try is the new JJ-ECC803S tube. They're very fat and dark, but I didn't care for them too much in my Bad Cat. They may be really nice in the Maz though. I also need to try the Tung-Sol 12AX7s in the Maz. They're amazing in the Hot cat.
