I'm going to be getting a therapy this weekend and ive been reading a little bit on the tubes that it takes. Am I correct when saying that I can use 6L6, 6V6, EL34, and KT77 power tubes in this amp? I want to make sure before I try to experiment with them that I won't screw the amp up. And also if true which power tubes out if those 4 do you guys most like? And which woukd be the best tube for blues rock?

Bloozeman,
@irreversal has the skinny on each tube type and how they perform. I haven't gone there yet, I like it just the way it is.

KT77's or 6V6's with an alnico speaker are the bomb diggity for clean to semi dirty tones.
When I'm jamming around the house, I can toss the 6V6's in there and get some good drive going with a 96dB speaker without aggravating the neighbors. The KT77's give me a little more cut and less squish at gig volume.
6L6's are great, too, and I really like them when I can crank the amp. I just wasn't a fan of the EL34's in there. Lots of options. Try a 5751 in V1, too!

I agree on the 5751 in v1 option, defiantly gets you some more clean headroom and sounds good. I tried some 6v6s in mine also and liked the result. But from the basement to playing out I do heavily prefer a 12xax7 in v1 and the JJ 6L6 power tubes. I use two Celestion Gold 10s with mine, an amazing amp that is going no where!

I usually stick with 6L6's,but have tried el34's and 6V6's-I like 6V6's a lot,makes the amp more Tweed-ish.Especially with P-90's.

I was in a Pretty Large Venue , I was told to Turn it Up some well That was His first Mistake, He then said Wow! How Many watts is that? I told Him a Powerful 35! watts , It was Really Singing!!! , used w an Original 1x12 EVM12L MY FAV W THE AMP BY THE WAY

Think I have a pair of JJ KT77's downstairs that were briefly in my SRZ-65 (until I found a "good" pair of EL34's for that amp). If I may say so, outside of the BS&T, they're available if somebody wants to try them.

I just put a pair of JJ KT77's in my Therapy ... wow. As advertised, it provided more clean headroom than the 6L6. But that headroom has, well, "guts." It makes a great clean, gutty base for pedals, and sounded great with my '81 Strat. Real "oomph."
Ran the MV at 3-6, vol at 9'ish, bass at 9, mids at 3-5, and treble at 3-4. I love 6L6 tubes, but this may the ticket for the Therapy because it pairs with a stock Z28 through a Z 2x10 open back that I have set to provide a lot of gritty overdrive (not quiet the 3-3-3, more like 3-12-3).
I also have a 5U4 rectifier i'm going to pop in tomorrow just to see how that sag feels -- I think I'll end up staying with the stock 5AR4. BTW, playing through a vertical slant 2x12 with V30/H30 top/bottom.
