I had an audition last night with a band, the other guitar player/singer was using a Marshall 1/2 stack (JCM800 something or other) and me with my Maz Jr. My biggest fear was keeping up volume wise. Well, it was no problem. I got a chance to crank the Jr. and let me tell you it was heaven. Everybody said "man you got great tone", I've always thought I had great tones, (and the bass player agreed, he's an old buddy) but he thought they were better than usual. They even said the sound man will REALLY like you Anyway I got the gig, and all is well. Now I just need to really check out the option of a road case. My Bass player, who I will be commuting with has a pickup truck and my Jr. gets strapped down in the back Life is good!! Thanks Doc!

I've got both (had the Jr), and while the Marshall will move more air and knock you over, the middy little Jr will cut like nothing. Never had a problem being heard over a loud band...one of the biggest pluses of the Jr IMO.

I had been gigging with a Rivera Knucklehead Reverb 1x12 V30 Combo and I gigged with my Ghia for the first time last night. We play smaller bars and I was never worried about the Ghia being loud enough (usually too loud is the problem). In any case, the Ghia is No Way as close to as loud as my Rivera KHR. That is one Loud amp! One of the reasons I tried the Ghia is the KHR doesnt sound as good at lower volumes. In any case, the Ghia was great and I really enjoyed the tone adn the amp has more feel. You must play much bigger gigs than I do as I cant think of anyplace I could really let the Rivera loose.

Same thing with my Rivera! It's the 50watt Knucklehead. I have had gigs where I have it on 2 and the sound mand is asking if I can turn it down.

Lefty, have you found any good companies that make road cases for the Maz jr? I need one for a head and z best. Only 4 weeks left till my Maz arrives. Is there a name for this terrible waiting time? Maybe purgatory before heaven? laf

I have a guy who builds all my cases. He's in Canada, so it's a couple of bucks more for shipping, but he does great work and is very reasonably priced so the extra shipping is actually less than a wash. His email is:
rbrodbeck@uniserve.com
His name is Rick Brodbeck
