Hey all,
This is my first post here on Z Talk so please forgive for anything wrong with this post!
Anyways, today I put in an order for my first Dr. Z, the Antidote! I'm super excited about it. Ordered a black one with a black Z Best cab and Air Brake attenuator!

NNPZ,
Great news on the new amp, I haven't heard much about the Antidote lately.
I am curious and looking forward to your review.

NNPZ, Great news on the new amp, I haven't heard much about the Antidote lately. I am curious and looking forward to your review. Looking forward to giving one! Seems like there's a pretty limited supply of clips/reviews of the Dote (which made it hard to pull the trigger). What I have seen/heard sounds right down my alley so hopefully that's right!

niknakpattyzach, What is your style and tastes and how did you make your decision on the Dote?

Anyways, today I put in an order for my first Dr. Z, the Antidote! When I was considering my first Z, I really liked the Antidote. I loved the clips I heard and thought it was a great amp. I ended up with a Remedy because my band mate sold me his and made it real easy. Congratulations!

I think the Antidote is one of the most underrated Z amps - I love mine! It gives that Marshally tone that I love. Does late 60s/early 70s sound extremely well! Let us know how you like it when it comes in!
BTW - welcome to the Forum - a lot of great people and information here.

It is the best of all Z Amps...I had mine over a month now and love it. Gets all my playing time and I can't really say enough about it.

niknakpattyzach , What is your style and tastes and how did you make your decision on the Dote? I'm really into playing blues-blues rock-classic rock and the Dote really seemed to have that vibe going on. I also think it'll help widen out the tones I'm able to achieve (current other amps are Fender Blues Jr and DRRI) I've just always wanted one and never was able to afford it! (Good thing for tax return season!)

You guys are getting me all hyped up!! It's supposed to come today but the cab and attenuator won't be here until Tuesday. Should I go ahead and plug it jnto the speaker in my DRRI combo or should I wait for the "complete setup" and not plug it in until I have the cab? (My DRRI has an Eminence Cannabis Rex in it).

Are you kidding? I would plug it into a transistor radio if it had the input jack. Have fun, let us know how it goes.

So I went home for lunch (before reading what you said) and "piggybacked on top of my fender and just wow. I'm really excited to hear it through the Z-Best I have on the way but I can tell you already that she's gonna be staying around. Full thoughts will come next week!

If you like it now, wait until you plug that bad boy into the Z-best. Monstrous tone and kick.

Dr Z makes so many great amps, every model has unique qualities and design trickery that warrant "best Z ever" status. But the Antidote, wow! I think Z has always had a thing for KT66 output section design, first introduced with the Route 66, the way he uses KT66's is unique in the guitar amp world. The Antidote is further evolution, versatility and a super sized dose of bad-assed-ness, a class of its own. Killer amp!
