I'm a current Maz18 owner looking for Bluesbreaker/JTM45 tone at moderate volume levels. Will the Remedy get me there? I know the Doctor has a 6L6 based amp, but the 1/2 power switch of the Remedy looks to be a key feature for me. Any opinions on this would be appreciated.

Remedy was my first thought. Not sure about moderate volume levels though. Clapton really cranked that Marshall back then.

^ From all reports in interviews with people who were there , it was very loud. The power section had to be cooking , those were the days before master volume / gain controls .

I had a 1997 Reissue Bluesbreaker, best sounding amp I've ever had. Yes it was loud but not THAT loud, (only 30 watts) and I could set the two volumes on 4 and use an overdrive pedal and get ultimate tone. To my ears that amp has qualities of a Fender amp in it, but with Marshall edginess, and that's what I was wondering about the Remedy. Are those qualities in there?

In 2011 I did this track with my Remedy. All of the guitar you hear is from the Rem... Les Paul > Remedy > Airbrake (4 clicks) > (2) 1x12 Convertible (Alnico Golds) Backing Track from guitarbackingtrack.com (drums, bass, vocals) The OceanDisclaimer: I was going deaf at that time, and now I am almost totally tone deaf, so if there are clams or dissonances in there, I'm clueless.

Sounded great to me Steve. Nice job. What model Les Paul / pups did you use ? That's an R8 with 57's in it. I got that guitar in a trade with Curt. He got two guitars, but I think I got the better end of the deal...

Thanks Steve. Very nice. That sounds a lot like my old Super Lead to me, and I would be very happy with that.

One extra point of consideration. I used Alnico Golds for that track, but that was before you could get Creambacks. I've seen a lot of comments here that lead me to believe a Creamback or pair in a closed back cab gets you all the way there.

I like the Antidote for Bluesbreaker/JTM 45 tones. One of my favorite amps. The Vintage/modern switch provides some nice tones from 60s/70s.
