I am interested to hear everyone's favorite things about the amp. Here are some of the reasons I jumped on the train.. Im also a first time Z-owner!
1. Needed an easy to carry amp 2. Loved Princetons but the CURE sounded better to my ears and offered wayy more versatility 3. Like the idea of how the EQ section actually performs.. 4. My first 6V6 style amp, everything else I have uses 6L6 or EL34 - 6V6 drive feels and sounds very unique to my ears 5. Wanted hand-made in USA with solid support 6. FX loop!
Those are a few of my favorite things.. and reasons why i decided on this over other options. What do you all love about this amp?

Welcome to the Forum gworm! A lot of really good info and people here! Of course, we'll need to see a pic of your Cure so we can verify your ownership ( ) I should be picking mine up next week (hopefully!) Why did I get it? Because I can Doc just makes a high-quality product with tons of tones. This one might kick the Monza out of my living room which says a lot! The Monza has been there almost 5 years! Can't wait to hear the new "lower" volume tone there.

I'll try to bullet what I like about this amp.
- I can set it to breaking up and turn down my guitar for clean and hit the tone by-pass some some over the top drive. No overdrive pedals needed! - It's very light. I really love this! - The overdrive is smooth and clear. With the tone by-pass on, it have some very tight, focused overdrive. - I can't say enough about the level control. I think it works well. With that said, there is something very beautiful about a hot signal driving a speaker! - The bottom end doesn't "flub out" with the 6V6s. - I'm still amazed how you can go from mid 60's type clean to late 50's cranked overdrive and then way over the top with the tone by-pass. - All of Doc's amps are high quality and they all have that "Z" thing going. This one is no exception. - I'm really loving the Z speaker in this amp. It's really getting sweeter as it breaks in.
I'm sure I'll think of much more later. lol

so can the eq-bypass pedal when cranked allow you to engage a dirt tone with the amp levels set for clean?

so can the eq-bypass pedal when cranked allow you to engage a dirt tone with the amp levels set for clean? Yes. How much dirt depends on how you set the volume. I set mine between 2 - 2:30 depending on the guitar being used. That's a pretty good "breaking up/drive" sound. If you set the volume to 10:00, it's pretty clean. If you engage the by-pass at that setting, it will get you pretty close to drive if the volume was set for 2:00. It just depends on what you're looking for. It's very versatile.

I have to admit that at night while the family is sleeping I can plug in my telecaster, crank the master and volume both to around 2:00, hit the tone bypass on and get scorching overdrive and with the level control nobody in the house even knows I'm playing. This level control is killer. I was playing Brown Sugar by ZZ Top last night at bedroom volume and it sounded amazing. I've never been able to get that amp crunch sound and feel at such a quiet volume with all of the feel of a cranked stage amp.

Welcome aboard, gworm. I agree with all the favorable attributes described. It's an amp with no "downside" for a weekend warrior, non-metal player like me. Provided that you don't want a color other than black Added: If in some alternate universe I did need to approximate a metal sound for a song or two, I bet the Cure would get there with a pedal and extension cab.

.....i too like all the attributes mentioned thus far but what i like most are the cleans...yes they are similar in nature to iconic blackface cleans but to my ears are a tad more aggressive and "organic" sounding....more personality.....and more shapeable with Z's tone stack.....a super fine base for pedals.....for my needs the Cure is pure perfection....

I really like the fact that its lightweight and yet it still is not boxy sounding. I like the way you can use the master and the volume together to run the amp clean, slightly broken up or wide open and still be able to turn your volume down for clean tone. I also like the organic tone this amp puts out I was really impressed in its performance live. It really blew me away how articulate the notes where coming off the fret board. No pedals needed either but the amp loves pedals. The amp puts out a rich tone and the overdrive is smooth and buttery. I really cant find any fault with this amp like some have stated its perfection. Just being able to walk into Church with my guitar slung over my shoulder and my amp in my other hand and then just plug in and play was another huge plus for me. No dolly needed.
The tones I was getting with this amp cranked where about as good as it gets. And as others have stated the level control is awesome at home. Its the perfect grab and go amp. I was worried that it would not be able to hang with the hammond B3 at our Church. I had to use the boost a couple of times yesterday. But once I hit that boost I was able to cut through no problem. But like others have stated the cleans where excellent. I really like the clean tones this amp puts out.

I'm new here and just picked up a new cure and love it. I have owned a bunch of vintage fenders over the years and at one time had a 56, 62 and 64 deluxe in my possession so when my shop reccomended i try this to complement my favorite SFPR I was pleasantly suprised.
I can't put my finger on which model fender it sounds like to be honest but it incorporates everything that I would want out of a vintage fender while removing everything that I did not like.
It really sounds like a more refined tweed amp to me with a great tone stack and no NFB shrill. And the bass holds together better than any tweed or blackface would. The cleans are more tweedish and moreso like the bigger tweeds such as a narrow panel pro or bandmaster.
It also reacts to pedals very much like a tweed or brownface which can both be a little more fickle about what works with regards to delays and mid hump based drives. Blackface fenders take anything you put in front of them beautifully where the cure has more character which can be tougher to hide with pedals.
The Z-lux seems to be straight ahead refined blackface to me where this is more tweed meets brown deluxe but with a controllable tone stack and enough filtering and speaker to not fall apart on you.
I will also say that it is the most humbucker friendly fender circuit I've played since the brown deluxe.
