I know there's a bass section but it appears quite bare in activity, so I'll asked here:
What Z would work the best as a bass amp? Combo with a speaker swap (if you can do that) or head?
I've need playing my bass, at low volumes, through my Maz which got me thinking about the question above. With my limited amp knowledge I'm curious what if any differences there are between bass and guitar amps, electronically, I know the speakers are different.
Whatcha think?

I've been doing the same thing with my Z-Lux combo, low, low volume of course, but it sounds great. It'll help loosen up the speaker a bit too, I suspect. In a pinch one time, I let our bass player use my KT-45 head through his SWR 4X10. It sounded awesome, much warmer than the SS amp he was using, right before it fried. The KT is a clean amp way up the V knob, a plus for bass tone.

I've used my KT45 with a 2x12 cabinet and it works.

My wife has a Delta 88. She runs it through a 15" EV speaker. Sounds really nice. It wont blow you out of the room like her 300 watt Eden but for what she uses it for the tone and volume are great. I imagine the Surgical steel would sound real good too since those amps are siblings.
My 2 cents, Todd

Delta 88 or Surgical Steel. What makes you choose those amps? I think a big reason is they are higher watts .... and both have been used as a Bass amp by some.

Delta 88 or Surgical Steel. What makes you choose those amps? They are pretty much in the same family of amp - a lot of power. Doc tweaked a Delta 88 for Patty to make it a bass amp - Todd just weighed in on it above!

Yeah, I was going to suggest Surgical Steel as well. Delta 88 can be pretty gainy, but the Surgical Steel is for steel guitar - big fat clean tones. Biggest thing is getting decent bass speakers for it. The Z-Best cab with actual bass 12's might work pretty sweet.
