I have used the Z-Lux as my main church amp for quite a while and bought the Therapy as a back up. This week we had revival so I wanted to try something different so I took the therapy. What I like about it is its so simple and you can really crank that Master volume up! At 35 watts it was like the perfect volume level nobody told me to turn down. It cut through great and had a nice snarl to it when I hit it with my Archer Icon. I am going to keep it there for a while and do some more experimenting with it. I can see how you church guys like this amp. Its perfect for church real simple. I am a set it and forget it kind of player, For this particular situation I have the amp set as follows Master 2- To all the way up bass 10 mids 1-2 Treble 230 3 and volume at about 12-1. Fat tone all the way around. I am also using the Z speaker which I like quite a bit.

That's the thing about the Therapy that I absolutely love...control. The other night I sat in with 4 acoustic pickers (all kin folk) in a small room and used it. I've used the Therapy in church as well.
While shopping for the Therapy I had no clue that the volume control was such a huge deal on this amp. I love my Ghia too, but it's either 20 mph or 100 lol. That little devil sounds like pure gold but dang the volume knob is touchy! I'll never part with either amp for sure.

Totally agree, although I do not play in churches. Works in any venue.
As the Dr said "I do LOVE the Therapy and it will go down as one my best designs, mark my words."

I'm amazed the Therapy isn't more popular. I've had mine for almost a year now. It took me a little while to get comfortable with it, but now, I think it's my desert island amp.

I've noticed that desert islands don't have a great tube selection........often wondered about the level of crazy it could cause to have the desert island amp but no desert island tube shoppe

I set up my Therapy tonight with a 1x12 with Z-12 speaker in it. I also set up my Z28 with 1x12 with Alnico Cream in it. I set up my Fractal AX-8 for stereo operation (just FX, no amp modeling tonight) and sent one side to each amp. I had such a blast standing in the sweet spot on the gig tonight playing my Gibson CS-336. Man, I knew that the Therapy loves that 336, but this setup in stereo was something that I never tried before and it was just fantastic. We played mostly old school R&B, Soul, Reggae, Blues, but with a jam band twist. What a complete joy. Thanks Doc!

I agree on the 336, it has been my security blanket for gigs.

No doubt this is a great amp. I have #5 and it has served me very well. You make a good point in the original OP on the volume control. It is really nice to be able to dial in sound you want and then control the volume with the master. Excellent design Doc! Todd

What about electricity? Smarty pants If tubes smuggling was part of desert island amp criteria.....I wouldn't want a 6L6 amp....maybe I'd have to pick a Mini Z...gives an odd feeling when saying single ENDED tube design.
