My Stingray has a Dario MINIWATT in it....So did my previous two StangRay's. I'm now looking to buy, at least one backup...But nobody has the Dario MINIWATT anymore. I found a couple on eBay, but I'm not sure I trust getting tubes from eBay?
So, what other EF86 tubes have you tried that you like and where did you get them? I'm not looking to "break the bank" either, so something good but decently priced?

I found a post about some EH ef86 and someone really liking them with their Ray, so I went searching for those and found them for $18 each new, so I snagged a couple. Hopefully my Dario Miniwatt will last a long time though!

Those Dario Miniwatt sure get recommended a lot. Thing is, Dario Miniwatt was a brand, they marketed tubes manufactured by others. I've seen Dario Miniwatt brand on a couple different EF86, Mazda/Bruxelles (L), and Valvo/Hamburg (D).
Near the base of your Dario EF86 there is a 4 character code acid etched into the glass, the code will likely start with an L or a D, or some other letter or symbol. Let me know that code and I can tell you where the tube was made. I probably have some.

I USED the Darios for a bit but I stumbled across some of the Original Telefunken as someone else mentioned , have no idea who made? I no longer Have a Ray at this Moment but..... The Best EF86's IMO are the old AMPEREX,BUGLEBOY,Valvo LABELED, ANYONE KNOWS any history on these, also the Mullards were good, I have 1 -EF86 amp and it has the amperex in it since ive owned it , I ran the Dario and I also have used as mentioned above a Valvo labeled 86. I got these by luck in a box of various tubes on a local CL Auction, 25$ US Dollars, yes had no idea just knew there may be a few USA 12AX7 by Seeing the Sylvania labeled boxes and 1 or 2 old RCA Boxes which is initially drew me to place a bid. I forgot about KCA Tubes, But I have been using The Tube Depot out of Memphis they have a great selection and price ranges for everyones budget on new and old and NOS Stuff. The EF 86 In My BadCat Amp Makes a Huge Difference in overall output despite having 2, pre sections, I run blended and I have found More $ for a tube is not always best. If you can stumble some various tubes like I did you can at least get a feel for what sounds good to your ears without spending a fortune for tubes until you settle on maybe one brand or type.

Now we use Winged =C= and they have very low microphony and have a lot of clear clean headroom. I like them better than the Dario/Miniwatts. Just a very strong sounding tube.
