I have a Maz Sr reverb 1x12 combo and I just acquired a head cab to make a conversion. Don't have the head cab yet, but planning ahead. My Maz Sr is the current model version with vertical inputs, detachable cord, EQ bypass. Mainly converting as the 1x12 is heavy around 67 lbs and without a fan, gets pretty hot with 10 tubes. I searched though the Jr and Sr amp forum sections and found some info about this but looking for more specifics around this effort.
1) I found some posts that mention the front face plate on the current models can be reversed for combo or head use. I will have to purchase a new head version back plate however. Can anyone confirm this before I place an order?
2) What is involved with removing the face plates? Just unscrew pots, switches etc and the plates come off, or are they glued down at all?
3) Is the jewel light attached to the face plate or how do you remove it? Does it unscrew from the front to detach the jewel light from the face plate?
4) It appears that I would have to change the orientation of the high and low inputs as the high input is on top in both the combo and head versions. Easy to do and enough wiring to allow a placement switch or will soldering be involved?
5) Where does the reverb tank mount in a head cab? I found some pics for older version Maz amps where the tank was mounted to the top of the cab on the left side while looking at the back. Found another where it was mounted to the back of the valance. Which method is current now?
6) Mount the reverb tank without the leather pouch that came with my combo? If so, I am assuming there is a way to mount the tank by itself, screw holes etc.
7) Back plate easy to remove or expect solder work?
I appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks.
