Anyone hear about this? His new video shows him playing a butterscotch tele that seems pretty "new" for his liking...
btw, nice to be back. I've had a long road ahead of me...with new ambitions and goals...but I'm back!

Hey Pat, good to hear all is well!
I did see an snippet of an interview with Brad where he discussed the Fender guitars. I think at this point they are still playing with some prototypes, etc. He says there will be a couple models (US and MIM maybe) and they will have the characteristics of a good 50s Tele (light/ resonant, big neck, etc)

If Fender did the pink paisley it would sell like hot cakes.

If Fender did the pink paisley it would sell like hot cakes. I doubt it will be a paisley (aiming for a 50's style great Tele).........but, yes, it would be neat.

Can only imagine over time that people would begin to associate the paisley Tele with Brad (because of his last name, of course), notwithstanding the fact that the guitar was done long before he ever arrived on the player's scene...

Actually I was associating the pink paisley with Paisley's 68'. Being a huge Elvis fan I always believed that James Burton made the pink Paisley notible. I never could figure out why Fender decided to do the paisley flamed JB Tele instead of the pink paisley. Oh well, guess that's why I don't make the decisions at Fender.

Very interesting. I'd like to see what they come up with (hopefully it'll have a G-Bender installed!). A few years ago, Fender did a limited run of a black paisley telecaster and Stratocaster. From what I recall, they were just MIM guitars with a paisley finish. They didn't last very long, and I never really read any spectacular reviews on them (other than the good things people usually have to say about Fender MIM guitars). Clearly not the same as what the OP was talking about, but worth mentioning.

I have a standing offer to pick one up for $600. So tempting.

I have the BP tele. I also have a Crook. The BP Tele is great at retail. At $600 it's a steal. If you like chunky necks it's great. The neck has some girth. Your first comment when you pick it up will be "I can't believe how light this is!"

Amazingly light, also next to the 50's Road Worn it sounds so good. I just need to figure out how to match up the schedule with the guy who's selling, as we are over an hour away.

I missed on the BP. The Tele hunt is still on. I will have to be disciplined on my "don't buy a guitar you haven't played rule". I'm thinking Fender is pretty consistent with these Brad guitars coming out of Mexico. Maybe not much risk picking one up on Reverb.

Has anyone heard of issues with these guitars? I just checked GC's website and they have 7 used ones. For a new guitar that seems like a lot and wondering if anyone had insight. Maybe it's just that people preordered without playing them first, but having played one I don't know why someone would be quick to take the loss by selling it back to GC. Clearly you knew it was reliced so it can't be cosmetics. I played it next to a number of other Tele's and thought it sounded great in all three positions, I loved the neck, and even though it is light it is super resonate. Seeing this many on the used market so fast has me nervous about taking the plunge.

It's a cutting board with a baseball bat neck and strings. There's not much to go wrong. The only thing I can see is that the neck size may put some people off if they ordered without trying (the general population may lean toward a standard 'C' shape). The guitar is fanntastic. My only beef is that I don't usually go for guitars with the truss adjustment at the butt end. However, when I tried the guitar I liked it enough that i quickly got over that aspect.

I like the idea of the market getting flooded so I can grab one cheap, but it I really don't get why there are soooo many being offered up. One man's trash right? But all I really can't imagine that people have issue with how this thing crushes it. Even my 10 year old who looked sideways at GC and said, "dad, you are not getting a glitter guitar" after hearing said, "dad, you have to buy that guitar, it sounds great!"

I had an issue with mine. I got one of the early ones and it had an extremely sticky neck that would not cure. Apparently in a rush to get these on the market, they shipped them before the nitro was completely cured. It also had a sticky/ oily substance on the neck that would come off in my hands and on my fingertips. I contacted the dealer I purchased it from early on and voiced my concerned and he made a note of it and we decided to give it awhile to see if time would take care of it. I even tried naphtha and steel wool to try to cut the finish down but the problem would come back. I ended up sending it back to my dealer who contacted Fender. Long story short, they replaced the guitar and I have had zero problems with the replacement. I love the fat neck and light weight. It plays like a dream and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes big necks.

My shop got it directly from Fender at that time so it likely wasn't sitting around for months. No issue like you describe with mine so maybe it's limited to the real early ones. However, like you say, it's a great guitar. I, too, love the neck. It's actually pretty close to the neck on my Crook, except my Crook is not a 'V' shape.
