Hi Everyone, I've been away from the boards for a few years - I was working on a doctorate and just didn't have time to hang out here. I'm back! I never stopped playing during that time and my trusty Route 66, Z-Verb, and 1x10 cab have been absolutely rock solid! I picked up a new MAZ 8 from Humbucker Music this week and I love it! I got the black knobs/Z-Wreck cloth version and it is beautiful and wow, what a wonderful amp! I was able to very quickly dial in the tone I was looking for and I really enjoy the adjustable boost too. I don't plan to carry around anything but the amp, cable, and guitar to gigs. All the best...

What a great homecoming! All my old friends stopping by to say, "Hi!"
Hey Purpletele, I'm not a physician type of Doctor if that's what you are asking. I'm the teacher type.
Really enjoying the amp. So many amps in one, and the triode/pentode switch offers a lot versatility. Wow o wow!

Greetings. I too was seduced by the classy/sexyness of the black w/Z-Wreck Maz 8. I think you're going to love this amp, especially for playing at home. It's full of great tones at neighbor friendly volumes.

Welcome back....I've been wanting a MAZ 8 for a portable combo....what more could you want? What do you think about the on board verb versus the Z Verb? Congrats on the schoolin' as well....it's takes a great discipline or tunnel vision at least. Hard work for sure.

Congratulations on the degree! Your intelligence and great taste shows in your NAD choice...the Maz 8 is a whole bunch of fun in a small package. It's an amazing amp that goes way beyond expectations.

Besides the degree itself, the amp is a nice reward to give yourself for the hard work. Congrats. I'm looking forward to receiving my "8" more every day.

Hi Everyone... An update! First to Simpleton, I think it is more tunnel vision for the school thing. Randy, great to hear from you brother! Hope you are doing well. Maddog, I never will forget your kindness when you helped me when my dog was dying of cancer. You helped me more than you know. So I've played around a lot with the 8 and I've found it to be a great compliment to my Route 66. I am reminded of it's versatility in spades. My favorite mode is Triode mode - I love the overdrive in this mode. Reminds me of a great tweed amp. I like to play clean wit a bit 'o hair, and then get more when I dig in. The 8 does it beautifully. So, so pleased!
I'm still exploring the Pentode mode, and I like how "forward" it is. Lots of good clean tones there too.
Still, I'm loving the Clapton tones I'm getting in Triode.
Thanks Doc!

Just an update. This is a great amp for a church praise band. I've been using triode mode the most. You can get amazing tone and not overwhelm everyone with too much stage volume. It really fits in that niche of lower volume amps - but the 8 doesn't sound small or boxy like some of the other low wattage amps. This is such a great purchase. I'm so glad I bought this!

I'm using mine for worship too. Running in Pentode so far, but might try Triode this week. You're right, it's perfect for this application!
