Just wanted to share a few things regarding my Z-28 that made me have a foolish smile on my face for the last 2 days. My wife's been driving our SUV as we use it solely to transport our 4 month old from place to place. So on Sunday mornings, I'm left with her old car... A red Volkswagen Beetle. I'm able to transport all my gear to church in that thing as I have my Z-28 in a 1x10 combo. See below: Next, I wanted to share the setting I have been using in my church. Our church seats maybe 400-500 people, and stage volume is usually always a concern, however, the following setting has been real good to me lately. Keep in mind that I have the brakelite set on 2 clicks: I get my dirt with a Timmy for light gain and stack it with a fulltone ocd as needed for more dirt and crunch. I've put a picture of my pedal board below too. It's pretty remarkable how well this amp works with pedals. It has been compatible with every pedal I've thrown its way. Just wanted to share this with you guys. I've been considering putting my Z-28 in a 1x12 cab, but the 1x10 with the red fang has me pretty spoiled with headroom and portability. That is all. Hov

Cool! I really like what I've heard from z28 clips, thinkin' it's my next z. Love the idea of turning the tone controls up to bring on the heat, then roll them back to clean up.

If you like the 1X10 Red Fang combo then I would keep it that way. It seems to be more than enough amp since you are using a Brakelite. OK, maybe get a 1x12 convertible extension cab to use for outdoor gigs. If you were going to do a lot of those it might make sense.

I agree with zpilot--that Red Fang 10 is a very loud speaker for a 10"; if you're happy with your current tone, there wouldn't be much benefit to a 1x12 cab & speaker versus the 1x10 with your current speaker setup. Now, if you wanted to go quieter, I'd suggest a G10 Greenback (much lower sensitivity than the Red Fang 10, and sounds good with the '28); however it seems you're OK so I'd say, "leave it alone." BTW, I don't have much experience with those New Beetles, but dang that car's got a lot of "rear end" to clear before you can even reach anything in the "trunk." Yikes. I bet you're missing the SUV?

Even so, I'll bet they are a lot easier to load into than what I remember the front trunk of the original VW's were.

I've been considering trying the celestion 10 inch gold speaker too. I'm not in any particular rush to do any of that though as I'm pretty happy now. The brakelite does a good job taming things. Just curious to see how the gold sounds.
