Ive read that there are two different transformers in the mini Z. After 2007 the transformer is bigger and one that is used in the Maz 8. My question is this, is the Mini Z that is made after 2007 with the bigger upgraded transformer deliver a bigger sound than the one from 2007 and before? what are the differences?

Yes, there is a difference. I would call it a dramatic difference. I have owned both and actually had them at the same time for a while. I had the older one first and had read that the new transformer was not a night and day difference, and was even told that by one of the guys at the Z shop. I disagree wholeheartedly!
The larger transformer Mini Z (LT) sounds much more full and the bass is dramatically increased. The smaller transformer (ST) Mini is brighter with much less bass. The LT Mini does not sound like a small amp at all. In terms of fullness, it sounds more like my Maz than it does the ST Mini (I'm not comparing the tones, just fullness).
Here's the catch...I actually liked both equally for different applications. The LT wins hands down with volume at noon or above. It just sounds so full and clear. However, at low volumes (say 9:00), the LT Mini was way too dark for me. I preferred the ST Mini for low volume playing and the LT for louder playing. Once you get the LT volume up above noon, the treble comes out. Below that and I thought it was muddy.
I could only keep one, so I kept the one with the new transformer. I do play low volume a lot, however, so I actually had a tech install a bright cap on a push pull pot. Now when I play softer, I engage the bright, and when I turn up, I disengage it. Best of both worlds for me!
