Just wondering how often you's fellas change your pre's...every other /power or...how do "you" determine...I like to be safe than sorry so at least every other power/phase inver change...

I never change preamp tubes unless they go bad / microphonic or if I get the urge t try a different flavor. I change the PI every other output tube change.

Same as Frank above, but I don't change the phase inverter unless I hear a difference. I put in a new one, if it sounds better it stays in, if not, old one back in. I've had phase inverters last through 5 or more sets of power tubes, but sometimes just one. Preamp tubes, even the crappy new ones, generally last a long time. In my experience, if you like the way your amp sounds, leave them be. If you do decide to change them out, never all at once. Listen, change the first, better, stays in, the same or worse, old one back in. Keep doing that down the line.
