Well, Guys I received a call from Mark Reis, ( Joe Walsh's long time tech) telling me is having an issue with his second amp selection on his currant tour. Joe uses his Z. Lux set up with an extension cab, combined with a second amp. Initially he used a new hand wired VOX AC-30, I was told it sounded good in rehearsals , but didn't cut on stage , to much break up once pushed on a large stage. So Joe tried a 50 watt Marshall head into an open back 2x12 , didn't give him the tone he was looking for, loud but too loose.
So Mark asks what I might have to satisfy Joe to run in combination with the Z- Lux, I immediately suggested the Surgical Steel. Its high powered clean tones with articulate note clarity is perfect for Joes array of pedals. Also the wonderful clean sustain perfect for Joe's slide playing. He has used this setup on two shows so far, and the report I received this morning is he is VERY happy.
More and more hearing guitarists playing through the Surgical Steel I'm amazed at its full rich tones at any volume level selected. It's ability to suck in pedals like a straw is better then any Z amp to date.
If you look for You Tube videos of his June 17 and June 18 dates you will see and hear the SS on stage. One note I tried to do a bit of custom work for my pal Joe, so I used a DB 4 head cab for the SS chassis looks pretty cool. I thought of using VOX diamond grille cloth on the head, but with issues of him not using the VOX and them being disappointed , loosing a marketing opportunity I didn't want to poke the bear and cause any problems with their propriety copy written grille design.

Hmmm, I have something similar in my family room hooked up to a 15" and a bass plugged into it.
Could be a new awaking for this great amp platform.
The sustain is truly amazing
