How is the midrange on the Rt 66? I hear everything from scooped to it has more than a JTM45. I'm a fan of mids. I have owned a couple 6545's & KT45's over the years.. (and SRZ65) Looking for something a little warmer with strong midrange.. I will most likely always have one of my Tube Screamers in front of the amp..
Thanks in advance..

To my ears, the Route 66 is not scooped, but rather strong in the mids. I think that is why my favorite guitar with it is my Telecaster. When I first got it, I thought it was dark sounding. I added a RC Booster and it made it come alive for me. Great amp.

Anyone who thinks the Route 66 (or Z-28 or KT-45) has scooped mids is just talkin' crazy.
The mids are a bit different than most other amps. (In my opinion) They are lower mid focused. Where as..say a plexi is upper mid focused.

I played a gig last night and my Tele Custom through a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 on the Vintage setting into a Route 66 and it was glorious. Certainly not scooped without the FD and a thing to behold with!

Somewhat off-topic, but I yearn for the opportunity to plug my Mahogany Tele into a Route 66, tune to open G and play "Brown Sugar"! The Route 66- based on the clips I've heard-sounds like it'd be the perfect big brother to my Ghia.

DC here! I play my Route66 with my Warmoth Telecaster all the time - (mahogany body and neck - ebony fingerboard stainless steel frets - Seymour Duncan vintage stacks) It sounds fantastic - its not just me saying that - every player who's tried it or listened says so. Warmoth TelecasterCheers: Dixiechicken!
