I amy have said this earlier in here but the Fender Blues Jr is one of the few EL84 amps around today that is NOT cathode biased. It is a fixed bias, grid biased, class A/B amp. EL84's were chosen by Fender as they were less pricy than 6V6s.
This is a VERY different amp than a MAZ Jr by a huge margin.
But .... it is a cool and fun amp for a lot of things.

Hey Woody check this out for the heck of it. A Crate vfx 5112 I found one at American Music Supply for under $600. I hear that Billy Gibbons is using them. If you can, try and save for a Z, it'll be worth it. But playing guitar is the most important thing and if that means you have to start with a amp other than a Z because you can't afford it, I think everyone here will understand and has been there before. I know I have. Good Luck
