So, my normal setup is a Z28 head and a 2x12 cabinet. Lately I've been thinking about just buying an empty 2x12 combo cab and making it a combo. Who here has done that? I see that the z28 (and I believe all small-chassis Z'z?) don't come in 2x12 combos so that's leaving me with questions. Who here has done something like this? If anyone, please post some pictures! Thanks.

If Z doesn't make one then I'd think of calling Mather Cabs.

I did it with my Z28 and a MAZ18. Not difficult at all, but you may want a new faceplate.

I once had Mather make me a tiny 1x12 combo cab for my Ghia. It was really cool, and I sort of wish I still had it. His work is stellar, and price is very reasonable. I have a nice JDesigns 2x10 cab, too- great work/price. Either would do a great job.

I had mine in a Z 1x10 cab, but converted it out to a head only. Now I want to put it back.....but sold the 1x10 cab I wonder if the Z 1x10 cab, new, can be converted to become a combo? I think I read a thread years back where that could be done.............

You're right about the faceplate. It looks like the 1x10 cab and 1x10 combo are the same size. I think all you need is a new baffle, drill some chassis mounting holes, and add a front facia, but that's just a guess. I've converted combo cabs to extension cabs, but never the other way around.

The old dress 1-10 cabinet could be converted to a combo very easily. I can send you a pdf if you like.

That would be great Stephen, but Not sure the new 1x10 can be converted and trying to find an old one over here (UK) would be impossible. I may just get a custom one made and get a Z logo from Harvey..........
