Love this amp!!! Just retubed with a fresh set of JJ's. It was starting to sound a little thin, el'ish. Rich, thick, muscular tone and feel are all back!
This was the first tube swap since I bought the amp new. I have been trying some other amps in the last year (never planed on selling it) just to get more perspective. Like simpleton said in another post this amp is going all the way with me. I have a small combo for tight stages but the Therapy is so easy to dial in whatever I want it is hard to leave at home. It is such an amazingly awesome tone machine!

NICE! I found that since replacing my rectifier in my 'rati with NOS, the NS power tubes (TAD EL84 STR) last longer. I could be totally wrong. Maybe I've just been lucky with some decent power tubes. The rectifier is a RCA 5AR4 bought from KCANOS. I bought two of them. The first one has been in for almost three years now.

nmz, any way you can guestimate the number of hours on your original power tubes?

nmz, any way you can guestimate the number of hours on your original power tubes? kc I've been playing mine for a year plus....seems easy to have 200 plus hours on them with 3-4 hour jams once a week with the band plus time at home. Mine still sound great. The Therapy is supposed to be easy on tubes from what I remember the Doc saying...sine the heat rises away from the tubes. NMZ has had his Therapy longer than me.

nmz, any way you can guestimate the number of hours on your original power tubes? kc Man I have no idea. 3-4 hr band practice once a week, 2-3hr alone/not full band practice once/twice a week, and about 30ish gigs in that time? The Ghia finds it's way in and out of gigs/rehearsals and I had a Carr now it's a tweedyverb. But those are the Therapy numbers mostly. They seemed to last quite a while. About a month ago I noticed that it was sounding more chimey just seemed to lose the lower end. I was really surprised when I changed them out.

WOW! Mine is S/N 0002...........so had it since it was first released. Gigged 1-2 a month; band rehearsal weekly, plus home noodling.......... haven't noticed any decline in tonal quality AT ALL and we play rock!
Hmm, must be easier on tubes than I thought.................

I am using 6L6GC power tubes from the 60's in some of my amps. I don;t ever recall a power tube going bad on any vintage Fender or Z I have owned.
