A very "rare" amp. Maz # 5002. Doc made a few of these before he heard that Randall Smith of Mesa had registered that name even though he didn't use it. Doc spoke with him and he asked that he not use the name. It was subsequently renamed either Invasion (2x12), Studio Deluxe (1x12), or Studio Lead (head). A few were already out the door - this was one of them. Pretty much all original including Altec speaker. Great sounding amp.
that is way cool...the altec classic stuff...ill bet that suckers a heavy lil dude though

Those Altec's have become scarce as hen's teeth. I think Santana bought most of them up for backups. There was a brief period when you could get those and EVMs cheap as no one wanted the weight, especially in their 212 Twins, Pros and such. Now they're gone and the amps that still have them in are going for a premium. Don't want speaker break? Find one of those.
I thought I was the only one who still loves Altec speakers. I have a pair of 12" 417B speakers in a cabinet. They are 16 ohm, which is unusual. The 417B also has a large Alnico magnet. Great speaker though I've never liked the aluminum dome when playing with OD so I have covered them over with a paper dome. If I remember right these were rated at 60 watts. I like the Alnico versions of these speakers better than the ceramic. I never could figure why Altec changed them.

GuitarZ: Bells & Whistles-New Cars. A year with our Subaru Outback, finally realized doors have to be unlocked for inside rear hatch button to work. Dang! I need that feature for social distancing. Looked like an idiot pulling up & jumping out to manually open.

GuitarZ: Best Pandemic Comment - Delivery guy shows up. As we're social distancing, I look at myself in brown loafers, black socks, gym shorts, t-shirt and say "I realize this is not my best look". His response "You can wear whatever you want to the apocalypse."
