Long time lurker here and have read many of your opinions which have helped.
Very happy that after years of wanting a Z, I finally picked up a Z-28 2x10 combo around Black Friday. It was kind of on a whim since it ended up being used and 20% off, so I really couldn't pass it up. Came with mismatched speakers (Gold @16ohms and Jensen c10 @8ohms). I love Golds, on their own and especially mixed with a ceramic, so I decided to keep the Gold and go with a 25 watt Jupiter to try and mix American/British voicings.
Long story short, I can't get over how thick sounding this amp is even at low volumes. I'm kicking myself for not getting one earlier, but oh well. Fits nicely into my collection and I couldn't be happier. My one little issue is it seems the spring cover on the EF86 seems to be a little loose or something because as the cab starts to vibrate on wood floors, I get a little buzzing going on from it.
All in all, sooooo happy. And thanks for all your opinions and info leading up to it!

Congratulations on your purchase. The Z-28 is a fat sounding amp. Enjoy!

Congrats on your first Z Amp! Pretty sure it won't be your last one.

Congrats on your first Z Amp! Pretty sure it won't be your last one. Funny you mention that. I'm already looking at others (for the future). I sure liked the Z-Wreck when I had a chance to plug into one.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! Lot of good people and information here. You should hear a Z28 through 4 10" speakers - a lot of attitude!

Welcome!
Those tube covers can sometimes be annoying. Had a similar issue with a MAZ. I just pulled the covers. I'll pop back on when I transport the amp.

Z-28 w/210 is a phenomal combination of tone and volume imho. Congrats on your acquisition. And, looking forward to hearing what you get next .... Z-Wreck or 'Ghia with a different speaker combination always a fun idea Been using one of the old style Dr Z 210 cabs for the past several years .... cheers always, Joel

Welcome to the Z-28 Club! I, too have a 2-10 with the Z-10's. I bought another pair of Z-10's from a Z-Forumite and built a 2-10 extension cab with the Dr. Z "lens technology", like the combo, and it has been outstanding. When I need more air to be moved, the 4-10 really puts out! I use the extension cab more with my drum machine and a Crate Power Block than my Z-28, but I have some great options.
You'll grow to love the Z-28, the more you use it.
