Man, this thing gets better and better with every show!! The first show I played with it, I ran it with my RxES so I didn't get a real feel for the amp. But the last 2 weekends I've played exclusively with the Ray; 1 outdoor show for 400 people, 1 bar show for about 200 people and one show at the lake for about 400-500 people and the Ray was more than enough.
I run my Ray with a Weber attenuator, it's pretty wide open but still a good 4-6db cut. I run the Ray on just under 4 on the volume, and that's loud as heck without an attenuator.
It feels like I have a complete ansenal/stack of amps behind me, not just a 2x12 amp. This amp is thick, chimes, it cuts, thumps and has enough mids to push out of the mix, it rocks and it twangs all at the same time. It takes pedals EXTREMELY well, maybe better than any other amp I've ever owned. At one point Saturday night, I was playing a solo and was thinking how great my Tubescreamer was sounding..... and when the solo was over, I noticed "I never had it on". It was still clean, but had so much definition and sustain that I did a whole hard rock solo without any stomp boxes and the next song was a Garth Brooks song and it was just as fitting for that song with the same tone.
Just thought I'd pass along how happy I am with this amp.... My poor RxES is a little jealous.

My Ray's got played the most because of the clean tone. Love the amp.

Clean it's great but I actually don't care much for how it breaks up when you dime it. For that kind of sound any of the other Zs do it better. But it's not made so much for that anyway.

I only wish I had a gig where I could have it at about 6 on the volume and play!!

After numerous gigs I've found I too like the amp best at it's most clean (volume around 9 to 10 o'clock) while pushing it into 'dirtland' with a couple pedal combinations.

I only wish I had a gig where I could have it at about 6 on the volume and play!! I run mine at 6 every night. But I need to Airbrake it to get the volume back to reasonable. Never had it on 6 without the Airbrake - too loud!

I really wish the Doc had kept the script lettering and just substituted an "a" for the "i". It was a much classier look. The block lettering and two horizontal lines ... well, it just doesn't do it for me, aesthetically. It's a good thing that tone has nothing to do with logo lettering

10-12 Shows under my belt with the Ray...... I figured the "honeymoon" would be over by now (as it is with other amps I've owned), but I find myself more "drawn" in by the tone of this amp and feel even more happy with this amp than I did when I first heard it. The tone is so 3-d and harmonically rich that I can't help but smiling when I play it. Chords are thick and chimey all at the same time and single notes are fat and round while standing out all at the same time. Very articulate amp...... Definitely the BEST amp I've ever played!

Yeah! It's so good that when the power tubes wear out (and they will) you know it right away because that great 3-D thang disappears. I love mine. I'm on my second set of power tubes here and it's as good as the day I got it.
