I finally made it out to the guitar shop to try out a Stang Ray yesterday. Played the 1x12 combo. Super sweet singing tones from that one, for sure. I would consider getting one, but I listened carefully, and it still sounded like ME playing. Doc, let me know when you finish perfecting the circuit that will help me sound like a real guitar player when I plug in to one of your amps. I felt like a kid clomping around the living room in daddy's shoes. That 'Ray is so articulate, it pointed out to everyone in earshot that the intonation was out on the ES-335 they had in the shop. (By the way, the 'Ray was a real bargain at $1949, when I compared it to the $2549 tag hanging from the 335. Ouch! To anyone considering an ES-335, I'd almost rather you break into my house and snake mine than take a bath on that price. Seriously, hit up Jebus Crebus for his at $1800. Looks like he really won't mind you stealing from him, LOL!)
I'd have to almost arrange to meet with the dealer after hours to get a real sense of how the cascading eq works on the Stang Ray. I really dislike being in the middle of a guitar shop, actually trying to check out a piece of equipment. (This dealer used to have a private amp room, but they moved locations last year. Much better showroom, but no amp room.) I mean, I don't really care how it works, scientifically, but how to use it, I mean. At least, I'd have to bring in my own guitar, so I could strap it to me. It was so frustrating, having to get down off that stool, hold the guitar in one hand by the neck, and turn the knobs with the other, then reverse all steps just to play something more to hear the difference.
