Hey Guys,
Anybody using a Klon or Klon clone with your Galaxie? I've been thinking about trying out one of the clones. I was reading through the effects threads and it looks like a lot of people are using them with their Dr Z amps. I was curious if any of the Galaxie players were using them. I was thinking that the midrange push on those pedals might sound sweet with the Gal.

I am not, but I bet it would sound good. It can raise an issue though, in that sometimes in our quest for more gain options we can be torn between which to use. I either use the amp options only, or use a pedal to rough up the normal channel at unity gain for open chords that wash into the mix. Then the lead channel is, well, what we all know it to be which is a distinctive solo voice that can be clear gain or screaming depending on your finger or pick attack. This has worked very well for me, but I admit that I tend to adapt my approach to the inherit design of whatever amp I use. A gain pedal is a waste of a good amp for example when you plug into an old Gibson GA40.

Good point Steve. I ordered a RYRA Klone and thought I'd try it out. I have several amps but the Galaxie is one of my most used right now. The Gal has great tone on both channels, no complaint here. I thought I'd try it more as a clean boost. I use Gibson 57 Classic PAF pups typically, so I thought it might add a little more kick into the front of the amp.

Sounds like a good plan Roger, let me know how it works out. Are you using the classic 57's in the 335?

Actually I'm not sure if my 335 has 57's in it or not. I'm going to have to check. I should really know what pups are in there.

Thanks Dave. I ordered a RYRA Klone a couple weeks ago. I'm looking forward to getting it soon and trying it out. That's a nice looking guitar.

Update: I got the RYRA Klone pedal. It sounds great with the Galaxie. It works nicely on both channels. I've used it a couple times at band rehearsal and I've found it's good to use for different stages of overdrive. Sounds great for solos too.

Roger, are you still use the Vin30 or did you ever try out the g12-65? Good to know the RYRA Klone is a good match.

Hey Steve, I tried the G12-65, but I went back to the V-30. It seems to work better my with my tone. The Klone is awesome. I gotta say it's the best the Gal has sounded so far.
