...without getting fired and without using an attenuator.
I have a small 112 cab thats about halfway between the size of a studio cab and a 112 Z convertible cab. Loaded with a 50w Alnico Weber Silver Bell. (I think this is the greatest speaker there ever could be for this amp by the way. Perfect in every imaginable way.)
-Using one 12 instead of 2 cuts the volume way way down and you can still get that wonderful hair. (Vol on 2 or slightly above with overdose turned on for example).
-The Silver Bell is a quiet speaker. I tried several speakers in this 112 setup including a 65 w Creamback, WGS Blackhawk, Vin 30, G12H30 and others. The Weber is way way less db. Huge noticable difference in volume. Its actually only a tiny tiny bit louder than my Ghia and Im.able to get the same slightly overdriven tone. Amazing side by side comparison.
Im also using an amp stand that sits really low to the ground and firing the amp up at me from the front like a floor monitor. I love this little stand because it allows me to have an angle where the sound of the amp is hitting me in the chest instead of the face. Much less bright. Even though it is cranked pretty good, due to the fact that it is facing me and with that quiet speaker it is not taking anyone's head off out front and I actually have it in the PA and have had no complaints.

... add a Master volume to that puppy and it's even better,
big thumbs up for the Silver with the Rx and the less db is why I also prefer it with the Maz Sr too.

I put the master volume in mine and made a world of difference. That's how I can use mine in smaller rooms

I have the MV as well. I use a 2-12 with green backs. We played a REALLY small place last saturday, and I ran the MV way down. The nice thing about this amp is, I don't think it can sound bad, no matter what volume

I'm in the process of assessing what Dr. Z amp to purchase. I'll be looking at used ones. I'm looking at used Prescription options, Jr. 18 watt and Es 45 watt. I'm in the EL 84 zone, having owned a Matchless Lightening 15 years ago ... what an amazing little and loud amp! I'd like to find something in this zone. There's two heads for sale, one 18 watt and one 45 watt. Will the 18 watt have enough clean headroom. I use pedals to push the frontend when needed.
