Im looking to pick up the ezg. I hear and see a lot of players using the 4x10. Is this a big part of the tone? I have a 1x12 Z cab. Was hoping i could get away with the 1x12 (ET-65) installed. Also, the amp was made prior bass mod...it this an absolute mod?
Thanks for any info.

I can't speak from personal experience, but a couple of guys on here had a Z 4x10 loaded with Golds - yeah, a bit pricey but Ooooh the tone.

Yeah,,, that would be way too pricy for me. I see doc offers the combo with 1x12. I can't be all that bad. I will do some research and maybe more will chime in.

I had an EZG with the 4x10 and can honestly say I didnt like it. The 4x10 sounded too middy to me, I preferred the EZG with a 2x12 cabinet better. I sold my EZG because I just couldnt bond with it no matter how hard I tried and wanted too. My opinion is moot tho as everybodys ears hear something different, many people love the 4x10 cabinet, I didnt. I prefer 12s more

I would think it would be great with a 1x12....like a Pro Reverb but better.

I have the EZG-50 in a 1x12 combo and I LOVE it after sending it in to get the bass mod. I was trying to sell it beforehand so I guess for me the bass mod is a must. To be fair they found some other issues when I sent it in(wrong tube value in preamp slot) so I can't be sure what made the biggest improvement. 1x12 is just dandy.....I use a Weber, but have heard and liked it with a Gold, G12-65, and the new Z 12".

I've owned a Sonic 4X10 with Celestion G-35L's (same as the Marshall 4X10's) in it for years. It's one of the best-sounding cabs I've ever owned with any amp I've put thru it. It's also the heaviest and least portable piece of gear I own, so it doesn't get much play unless I can park it for a while! But...if that's not a problem for you, the 4X10 thing is a pretty awesome sound, and you WILL be heard.

Mr John Priest of Peach Music in Braintree Essex very generously loaned me his special issue red EZG and 4X10 Z Cab for a string of UK gigs opening for Gary Moore, it was the perfect rig for the larger venues but I think it might be a tad much for the clubs I'm playing these days. Scott Lentz 'S' style thru a Boss TU3 and a Luxury Drive by Tim Jauernig. <. > Here's an EZG with a 2X10 Dr Z Convertible, guitar is a Lentz HSL I think both of 'em sound real nice.

Seems like the amp and the 4 x 10 cab worked out rather nicely

Thanks for clips BW, you sound great as always. I did manage to get a hold of a 4x10 Z cab. WOW!!!!! sounds great!!!! I don't see issues at small club as long as volume turned down and I have a plexi glass thing. I am really enjoying this amp and cab..
