In trying out all of my pedals with the new Ray - I must say the best is my Keeley RAT 3-way mod on the middle switch seting (The "Mighty Mouse" mode - removes one diode from the clipping circuit). I swear it makes my Ray sound like a Dumble Overdrive Special! The RAT always sounds great in front of my bright fender Blackface amps - but it absolutely kills with the EL84's and tube rectifier in the Ray - not to mention the Celestion Blues. With the roll of the volume knob on my Strats I can go from fat clean, to searing Robben Ford, all the way into Eric Johnson territory - such a versatile setup. I've got the T-Rex Room Mate and a Build Your Own Clone Delay I built and modified with a Burr Brown IC in the FX Loop. Anyone else tried this? You should.

I used a Keeley Rat with my Ray for about 6 months, and like you, thought it was a killer pedal for this amp. I used the switch to the left for inside (more compressed), and to the right for outside gigs (more in your face). But I'm always trying out new pedals and it had to eventually make room for a Keeley BD-2...and now an Xotic BB. Wonder what'll be next?.... Still like the RC best of all, not too much gain, just right for what I need.

The odd thing is I don't particularly like the Keeley RAT w/the RxES. Interesting to hear that it works well with the 'ray. I love the Keeley RAT w/my silverface Champ. That's an amazing sound.

I tried a Keeley Rat with my Mazerati and it sounded like a pile of fizzy mud. Great pedal and great amp, just a really bad combination. Kind of like tomato sauce and Diet Pepsi - they don't combine well.
