I've been using my Maz 18 Jrs. for about 4 years now and I love them. Been paying alot of attention to Brad Paisley over the past few years even before he had a Z... Then I saw him with his Z rigs almost two years ago then this past summer caught him in Mass. and his tone blew me away, never mind his abilities!! I've been keeping up with these forums here and I just ordered a head and cab with the blues. At the same time I also ordered my second Carmen Ghia! A red one! That'll bring me up to about 8 Dr. Z amps!! I also have a couple KJL Dirty Thirty heads. But I can't wait to hear my Teles in the new rig!!
With my new StangRay I'll probably need to attenuate but quad El84s with no master volume will always sing!! Now I have to wait until mid March!!!!

Welcome to the forum Slim...
congrats on the Stangray head/ cab and the ghia... sounds like your already very familier with the Z's though...
I think you'll love your Ray and will also be suprised at how good it sounds at lower volumes... it really does sound great even pretty low and without a master...
and I think you probably won't be able to stop playing the Ghia... little different than the Jr's and just about the most fun amp I've ever played...
but a I'm totally biaZed... ;D
in for a treat my friend...

Nice choice. I too placed the order for a Stang Ray head and 2x12 cab with Blues a couple of weeks ago. The waiting part is hard, but it's well worth it. While I wait, I'm still loving my MAZ Jr. and Ghia combos. Cheers!

Thanks for the Welcomes guys!! I'm fortunate and as the Z-Natic sez, I've got Z-Gas. I have alot of guitars and amps and I've been choosing the Dr. Z amps and preaching them for about 5 years now... They do give you that grin when you play especially when you try a different touch. When I saw Brad Paisley playing live you could see the look of how he was enjoying what he was hearing. ...and the ax players watching all knew why he had the grin!! That is when I really got the itch for the StangRay! I'm totally biaZed too, but good tone is good tone and I can't wait for the new one to get here! I guess I have enough Dr. Z amps to hold me over though!!! (I was disappointed to hear that the only Z Logos available now are cream colored!! I wanted a black ones, but will have to take the cream ones!) ________________________

Cool! You're going to be happy. I've been recording new band tracks with mine set very low and very clean. Using a big condenser mic and the guitar's tone pot I'm getting some great clean tones. Very smooth and even and I don't have to compress in the recorder. At a Dallas Guitar show about 10 years ago KJL had a booth set up to demo the dirty thirty. Is that the model with the mid click switch? I actually liked the clean sound of the amp and I always thought I'd get one but I believe they folded. I think Gatemouth used them for a while but the last time I saw him he was back to using Peaveys and Washburn 335 type guitars.
