The Stangray's bond with Tele's and the like seem to be well documented and proven. In contrast, how does the Stangray react with humbucker-equipped guitars...LPs, SGs, and such? Any good matches or thoughts on the tone/response of the amp?

My Tom Anderson guitar has a humbucking at the neck position and it always sounds great. I rarely use bridge pickups.

Any good matches or thoughts on the tone/response of the amp? I think it can sound really great. But I think it sounds better with single coils. YMMV. I did two sound clips with my PRS Singlecut a while back: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PRS Singlecut (Fralin PAF's) into Stingray into Airbrake into THD 2x12 Cut: Dimed. Tone: Noon Volume: Dimed www.gear.strayca.com/audio/Stingray/StingrayHumbuckers.mp3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PRS Singlecut (Fralin PAF's) > Time Machine Boost > Stingray > Airbrake > THD 2x12 Stingray: Cut: 4 Tone: 3 Volume: 10 Input: Hi Time Machine Boost: Modern: 2:30 o'clock www.gear.strayca.com/audio/Stingray/RockOverBlues.mp3~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So you see, it can get done that way. Steve, Where did you get your backing tracks? It's been a while, but I think both of those came from the backing track CD given out as part of Guitar Center's Guitarmageddon blues contest this past year. You had to sign up to get the disk, so I signed up, got the disk, and split.

speaking of humbuckers, do you guy's think a stang and a route 66 would work well together. I'm kinda missing that ballsy rock tone from my stangray mazerati setup. Both the amps I have are so similar. Really love the stangray sound though. But I've heard that the highs and mids on the route are pretty chimey and the amp is not as dark as I might think. It just has that strong low end that I miss from both of my current amps. Anyways, just thinking about selling the mazerati for a route 66, thats all. and wonder how they might sound layered.
