I have always run my amps cleaner and used pedals for my dirt. That is exactly how I ran my Remedy (which I have owned since July) UNTIL last night. I had three weeks between gigs and decided to mess around with the Remedy dirt and last night’s gig was the culmination of all that tweaking. I dimed the MV, ran the HV around 12 the LV around 11, TMB to taste and switched it over to 40 watts (it was a big room). It was wonderful! I didn’t need any dirt pedals, and it cleaned up extremely well for the stuff we do: AC/DC to Zac Brown, Alan Jackson to ZZ Top. I did step on a dirt pedal for lower volume stuff once or twice, when the wide open Remedy would have been too much. In hindsight, I realize I could have just turned the MV down for those songs and by doing that I could pull off an entire gig with NO dirt pedals It was tone heaven

Sounds like a fun gig Rockerfeller. Remedy is a great amp. I love opportunities to let mine breathe @ 40watts. IMO I think maybe some people just don't take the time to get to know what it's capable of. But everyone hears differently and plays uniquely, and that's what makes things interesting. Plus Dr.Z hasn't ever made a bad sounding amp so you can't go wrong with any of them.

ran the HV around 12 the LV around 11 Try cranking both volume controls to somewhere between 2-3. Then you'll REALLY have fun!

Don't forget how good this amp is clean! I haven't forgotten that! I have always run it clean. The great thing about running it they way I did last weekend is that it still got great clean sounds (not pristine, just a little hair) AND dirt. I just had to back off the volume a tad. It was nice not having to use my Greer Lightspeed or Southland to get the dirt (though I love them) and just use the amp. We are off until NYE, but that will be another big room gig (translation: Turn it up!)

I just found out my New Years Eve gig is in a big room with a 18' x 24' stage. THAT means I get to run her wide open again! Happy New Years!

I have to admit when I had a remedy my best tones where straight in no pedals! I love the Alnico Gold with that amp. But the creamback I would say is maybe a hair better. I wonder if anyone has tried the Alnico cream? That may also be a great speaker for the remedy.

I have been thinking about my NYE gig. A big room and a big stage means that not only will I run the Remedy at full power, but I can also run both Dr. Z 1x12 convertible cabs with creambacks in them. Now, it is true that I CAN use both cabs, the question is...
SHOULD I use them both?
What a dumb question! Of course I should use both!

Yep. The Remedy is the amp that took the pedals out of my rig. It was eye-opening to me. I learned a lot about how to run an amp cranked up, yet keep things under control at gigs. I occasionally use an airbrake, but not all that often. Now I pretty well use my Remedy or Ghia at gigs. Both work great without pedals.

I need loud cleans for my bands but in a lot of situations I could easily see using the eq bypass and say an ep booster or one drive pedal and be off to the races.
