Thanks to all my GAS causing Z buddies I'm once again broke . I just PayPalled a fellow Z'er for head #7 black with tan front . Should be in my possession between xmas and New Years ;D. The new year is lookin good! Thanks to you guys I mean that really ;D. My wife, well, she's handling it well so far. I haven't told her how much tubes cost and the fact that I will need more speakers and cabinets . Peace to all.

Congrats and welcome to the club. It's a great amp, and easily the best all around amp to me, that I've ever owned.

Looks like mine too, congrats! What cab/speakers are you planning on using with it? I hope to be able to get by using just a 1 X 12 Mesa Boogie open back cab with a 40 watt Tone Tubby (alnico or ceramic) or a single 30 watt Weber alnico blue or silver. Does anyone think there would be a problem using only one 30 watt speaker?A lot of folks are using beam blockers, may have to look into that as well!? I have a 2x12 THD cab but the older I get the less motivated I am to lift heavy things, it messes up my ability to play the finger pickin style. I would rather haul two single cabs than one double.

Was that the one on The Gear Page for $1,500? Thanks for saving from caving. Great deal. Great amp. Cool logo. Congrats.

Congrats and welcome to the "Stingray" club! I use a 30watt 1x12 Z. Sounds great and is plenty loud. The 2x12 Blues bring out the best in the 'Ray (IMO), but just keep to a 1x12 and you'll never know the difference.

I'm planning to put beam blockers in my 2x12 Z cab with Blues over the holidays. I had a stage where I could get way out front and it was hurting me... As to the THD cab, I didn't like mine at all with the Stingray. Which I found to be odd since I LOVE it with my Flexi-50, but with the Stingray there were some odd peaks that left me cold. I did find it was a better cab once I got the Stingray WAY over the top (Wide open with a big booster on the front end). I have a Weber Alnico California that sounds pretty good with the Stingray though. I would say if you can stay with Alnico you'll get more appreciation of the Stingray's tones.

Rockstok and I are both using 1x12's w/ a 'Ray...and they are quite loud. I switch around with an Emi Cannibas or alnico Weber blue 50w, and he's using either a V30 or alnico Weber blue 50w. Since our steel player has moved up to Vermont, I've gone back to using the quieter Weber.
I would imagine your alnico Tone Tubby would kill. Don't know what pedals you use, but a couple winners with the 'Ray are a Keeley comp and Xotic RC Booster. If my BB ever shows up I'll give a report on it too!

Thanks for all the advice guys . I will be experimenting as always and will report my findings back to the group. Pedals.... I currently use the Keely comp, Xotic RC, AC & BB with the Maz 38 and they are great! I am glad to hear they work well with the Ray. Maybe I'll sell the THD cab as I am not using it. In fact I may sell the BiValve 30 as I am pretty sure I wont be using it much either :-). Great dependable amp but not in the same class as a Z.

In the mean time ;D Stingray Head #7 was delivered this AM and she works and sounds absolutely great! Now I just have to spend some time with it. Last week the previous owner sent the head to Ken Fischer (Trainwreck) for a tube tune up so she should be running at peak. Haven't checked to see what tubes are currently in it yet. Well I've got to get back she's calling me . And for those who asked I got her off TGP.

Let us know if you have some clips for us to listen too.. I just put one up in the Sounds forum. But my Budda wah died today, so no wah tones. Shoot. It's always something with a Pedal Board, isn't it?

Nice looking # 7 mine is just like yours black with tan front # 21. I'm using a 2x12 open back Z cab with blues. Well, I broke down and ordered another C-Blue and my first C-Gold. THe Blue will go in the THD cab with another Blue for a 30 watt "quiet" 2 x 12 cab. The Gold will go into a single 12 cab. As soon as I get it together I will report back to the group.

I thought that statement might get your hair up ;D. Well let me put it this way... I've been gigging the Stingray mostly in the past 6 months. But last weekend I gigged my THD Flexi-50. I had to click the Hot Plate to thru to get it loud enough. I had the master dialed back a little, but I usually run the Stingray with its Airbrake at least two or three clicks down from thru. With the Alnico Blues in there, that is one loud amp!

The C-Gold and C-Blue came this afternoon. They are of course already loaded in the appropriate cabs. I have already spent over an hour breaking them in 30 minutes per cab. The 2 C-Blues are in the THD cab and roar like a lion, it is magical, now I finally understand what so many have been saying . The Gold is also magical and I am cutting up my credit cards to keep from ordering more of em. Man I got mojo ..., if I could only learn to play the guitar ;D. Can't wait to test these speakers with the Ray, maybe next week.

In case everyone is wondering and I'm sure everyone is ... wondering..... The reason I am spending so much time on this forum the past week is cause I am without my Stingray. One of the pitfalls of buying used gear from strangers off TGP, non-Z Forum type strangers. Yea, she's in Ohio gettin minor surgery. Doc said she came thru with flyin colors but I gota wait to see her til she fully recovers so I'm sittin here readin all these posts over and over for the 15th time. Bout got em all memorized . Oh me.............Ray'et darlin, come home to Daddy....

"Works like a Champ"! Surely better than that!!!!!!!!! (I know, don't call you Shirley) I resemble that remark ;D. The Ray works like a Ray should ought'a, sounds beautiful and loves my pedals. Ah man and she can get loud too . Hey I test drove a Z28 today, purty dang nice! Also heard a Z-Best for the first time and now know what everyone is talkin about, man that thing has got the goods! Oh, and played a Don Grosh Tele vintage 60's pups with maple neck I knew I shouldn't-a gone in that dang store.
