Hey GUys
Here is IMO the absolute best quality demo out there!
Give it a watch!

Yes these guys do good quality videos. What's the best klon out of the bunch?

I used to own an original gold Klon which I bought in 1995. I swore I would never sell it but I finally did when prices made it irresistible. It went to a forum member and I'm sure he is happy with it. What I noticed about the Klon was the way it "felt" when I played which, of course, made me play better. And like a lot of pedals you have to play one in a live band setting to really appreciate what it does. That isn't something that can be conveyed in a video review. I'm interested now in getting one of these clones but I know I'll have audition them myself until I find an authentic one. I'll probably start with an RYRA since they are a forum member and I have had good luck purchasing items within the forum. People here have good ears.
I never used my Klon as a dirt pedal. I always used it as a clean boost at the end of my signal chain. I think that is what it does best. There are much better dirt pedals out there now. Remember, it was designed in the 1990's.

The RYRA certainly holds its own in that shoot out along with the wampler to me both with their own thing going on too. I bought a soul food after all the hype but can't find a use for it and find it very harsh and unfortunately very noisy when l get it to the point where l am getting something from it. As a drive pedal it's also not my thing. Based on the soul food doing its thing l purchased a Silver archer which for me does two things as well as being silent noise wise. 1) set as a clean boost with drive off with a strat it does that fattening all the frequencies thing and pushes an on the edge amp to that nice point where it cleans up from the volume control and / or lightening your pick attack but maintains a high degree of clarity and note separation . 2) as a drive pedal with a Les Paul its superb with no mush and maintains that same clarity and note separation.

Shane, I thought they didn't give your pedal equal time, even though the guys said very nice things about it, and it sounded really good. I'd been using my RYRA as first in the chain, almost always on (low/no gain setting). I'm going to try it at the end of the chain now that the Z-Drive is on board. Question for those who have done this: Absolute last in the pedal line, or after OD but before, say, delay? Thanks. (I know I can try it both ways )

As I noted I ran my Klon the last thing in my chain. I used it as a clean boost and buffer. When I was in a situation where I couldn't really turn the amp up where I liked I left it on all the time. It restored some of that fullness you get from a cranked amp.

I can tell you from my discussions with Daniel and Mich they both were shocked when they got my pedal and Daniel is using it with his personal rig. And Mich wants one now too hahah

I use 2 OD's....RYRA set for a relatively low drive (my main OD pedal) and a PlimSoul set for a higher drive (think Santana, etc.). Great combination for my needs.

I use it very late in the chain (only EP booster after that as a bottom-heavy and less gritty alternative) and mostly as a barely-clean solo boost (Gain down and then up just a hair, treble at 11, volume at 12:30 or so). Killer into the Lo Input of the MAZ.
This is where this pedal shines imo: The mid and treble boost don't overload the preamp so you can get a healthy volume and presence boost from a single channel amp for solo parts. That's why I'm not sure the Tumnus would work: The bottom end, although nice sounding in this demo, would send my MAZ into saturation and kill the headroom the way I like to set my amp.
The soul food is a reasonable alternative for the price but yes, it's a bit harsh. I don't miss it since I got the RYRA.

They definitely should have given your pedal more time. Your pedal seriously rocks! It hasn't come off my board for over a year!

I placed the Klone at the end of the chain just now. Works nicely for boost and/or adding some push, as you guys said. Interesting point: I have the pedal set so that it boosts the volume just about as much as the eq bypass on the Z-Lux. Gives me a little more flexibility as I usually keep the Z-Lux in bypass mode for gigs and use the guitar controls to adjust things.
