I really am sorry for posting a whole new thread but I've just blown 3 3amp fuses in my stang and I'm kinda worried.
I tried different tubes and it did the same thing. It turns on but blows after about 15 seconds.
I thought it my be the speakers I have 1 blue bell 15 watt and 1 eminence 60 watt speaker in right now. Both are 8 ohm but I don't know if mixing speaker wattage can damage the other speaker or the amp. I talked to the guy at the place I bought the amp from today and they just told me to bring it in. The problem is I live 130 miles from them and would like to see if it was something I could fix.
But if it's internal soldering I'd rather not void any warenty.

did you also change the rectifier tube? Kind of easy to miss since it's not in line with the others. Try it with a different speaker cable? The speaker wattage rating won't matter but the impedance might. Have you got that correct? It's been okay until now? Did you change anything?

It's not internal wiring or a bad power transformer. If it blows the MAINS 3 Amp fuse in about 15 seconds that just the right time for a tube's filament to heat up and if shorted will blow the fuse.
Not many tubes in the StangRay so troubleshooting will be easy.
But if your scared don't try just get it back to person you bought it from he can pull all the tubes then replace them one at a time, no need to even take it out of stand-by as it's an AC /filament issue.

yep the rectifier tube was blown. I pulled it out and there was a dark burn mark on it and little white flakes floating around inside. I've got a cheap extra one in there right now but I'm probably gonna get a JJ. I've heard nothing but good things.
I gotta say how much I do love this amp. I was really discuraged with it for a while but I changed out some speakers and got a landgraff dynamic overdrive and I have just never had a more likable sound than whats coming out of it right now. Its such a beautiful sounding amp and I really couldn't ask for anything more. so much fun to play.

I've heard nothing but good things. well, you might want to read up more on JJ octal tubes, then. because of their pin diameter, you might want to look elsewhere for 5AR4. there was also some undesirable spec issues in the beginning but i think they've sort that out.

Might want to check into NOS JAN Phillips/Sylvania mislabel from Mike @ 1(703)430-3645.
