I was fortunate to try a StangRay today with a Keeley Katana Boost and Keeley Compressor and talk about tone!!! With the Katana maxed out, the Ray was almost too loud, even with the volume on 1 (did anyone ever mention that the Ray is a seriously LOUD amp ). I've already been impressed with the consistently great tone from each of the 3 StangRays I have had the chance to test drive, but these pedals seem to compliment exceptionally well the tone that's already there. In fact, the amp with these pedals can go from super-clean to rockin' out with these pedals. Just for reference: Input: Hi Tone: 4 Cut: 6 Volume: 1 (did I mention how loud this thing is?) Guitar>Compressor>Katana>Amp Guitar was a Tom Anderson Hollow T Classic with Swamp Ash body and all maple neck.

You really need to push the volume between 9 and 12 o'clock before she starts to purr. An Airbrake or Hotplate is very helpful for your ear's survival too. I stack a TIM with a Toneman Rangemaster and can get a wide variety of tones... mild breakup to very aggressive modern tones. I can't even justify buying another amp. It has so many flavors.

I should also add that I played the following amps as well today:
65 Amps 18-Watt Combo Divided By 13 SJT 37 Divided By 13 JRT 9/15 (very cool switching between the EL-84 and 6V6 Power Section) Custom Audio Amplifiers OD-100 Two-Rock Custom Reverb Dr. Z Maz 38 w/ Reverb
I enjoyed the tones on each of those, especially the Two-Rock, but still found myself going back to the StangRay multiple times as a baseline tone. Doc, I think the Ray can hang with ANY amp out there and shine!

... I can't even justify buying another amp. It has so many flavors. WHOA!!! Let's not get carried away now! ;D Just kidding-- and I have to agree with you. The 'Ray is just so good at what it does, that it almost makes you not even want to bother with other tones outsides it's range. Now, if I could just find a pedal that will turn my 'Ray into an SRZ-65, (or close to it), I'd be set! I know that a lot of purists say the 'Ray is no AC30. Well, it does everything I ever wanted a Vox to do (including not fail me at critical junctures), and then some. The highest compliment that can be paid an amp is just what you said, and what I'll agree with: the 'Ray is good enough to make you stop amp shopping forever..... Amazing, Doc.. jh

I was fortunate to try a StangRay today with a Keeley Katana Boost and Keeley Compressor and talk about tone!!! I've been on a Keeley kick lately, and ordered a Katana Boost today. So the chain will now be all Keeley: compressor, BD-2, Katana...and then to the Stingray. Realistically I don't expect a lot of difference in it and the RC Booster, but after seeing how well the comp & BD matchup I thought it could be helpful to try a Keeley brand boost. Like Hohn said, I like to get the amp volume to about 11 or 12 o'clock, compressor knobs at noon with the input trim running with a hot signal, BD drive at 10:00, or RC at noon. Makes for some VERY nice tone!

Doc makes the best amps out there taking into considerations :COST,RELIABILITY,QUALITY of construction and TONE , that is just to name a few. Nothing even comes close to what Doc has offered.IOM ;D ;D ;D ;D dock66
