Ok so my Z-Drive arrived today (#34). Very excited. Got it late and haven't had time to play around with it but had a thought...
I'm running a Maz38.
Would running the amp's EQ flat-ish and approximating EQ settings from the Maz18 settings PDF floating around these forums on the pedal work as an on-the-fly switch between sounds?
For example, if running the amp flat I dialed in the Brit Chime EQ setting on the Z-Drive's EQ would I get similar tones to adjusting it in the amp? And perhaps then changing the pedal's EQ to match the Americana setting, etc.
Just curious if anyone else had considered this or tried it.
The reason it came to me is that I play on stage where my amp is backstage and mic'ed so I can't really change amp settings in mid-set if I wanted to. I'm going to get to play around with the Z-Drive with the Maz this weekend hopefully... Until then I'll just keep imagining how great it's going to be!!

Let me know how you go with it? I'll be picking up a Z-drive soon for my Maz 38. Have fun!

To me, the tone stacks seem very different. The Maz EQ sweeps through a typical band range, where as the EQ on the Z Drive works until high noon, then adds gain to the respective frequency beyond noon.
Right now, on my 38 NR, my knobs are set as follows for Humbuckers - V:8, T: 11, M: 10, B:9, Cut 1, Master: Noon My Z Drive is set - T: 1, M: 1, B: 11. Green drive is at noon with the level at noon and cut up. Red drive is set at 3pm with the level at noon and cut switch down.
This gives me a great clean base tone, hair on the green channel and full on crunch and leads on the red channel.

Thanks. I'll give those a try. I'm looking forward to playing around with the pedal.

As some have said, "the magic is in the mid range." Don't be afraid to get generous with it.

Agreed, the midrange is the ticket...
