I've seen pictures of 4 ohm and 16 ohm wiring on Stingray combos. Which is the factory set-up? I see from other post it looks like 4 ohms is factory. Other than running an extension cab is there any advantage sonically or electrically to using 16 ohms?

I've seen pictures of 4, 8, & 16ohm combo's. I guess it just depends on whether it's loaded with 8 or 16 ohm speakers. I like 2 - 8 ohm speakers because you can wire it in series for a 16 ohm load, or parallel for a 4 ohm load. As far as any sonic/electrical benefits of any particular ohm load, opinions seem to vary widely. The most concrete answer I've found is on Ted Weber's website. www.tedweber.com/questions.htmHope this helps Harold

Thank for the response and also the great link. I guess I'll have try the different option. Fortunately, the lead are not soldered so switching will be easy.
