Plenty of pics of the front, but I'd like to see the back if anyone has pics.
Thanks.

Hey I have a Stang on order but I'm kinda weirded out by its construction. First off the effects loop. And second, why does this amp not have a standard detachable power cord like every other Z amp does. This means I can't replace it with a longer cord and if the cord gets yanked or whatever its going to rip out of the back. I mean thirty years from now I don't want to have some taped up riged up cord hanging out of my amp with the prongs all bent out of shape. Why in the world is it not like ALL of the other amps Dr. Z makes. This is so frustrating to me because aside from the sound I'm buying this amp because of Z's reputation for solid reliable design.

I suppose you could have a tech put one on if it's important to you. I don't understand the loop concern. If you don't plug anything in then the sound is the same as if it wasn't there. That was actually one reason I went with a Stang, sometimes I want delay or reverb and I feel that's the best way to do it. For me, I'd like to see a back panel held on with velcro or some easier way to access the tubes.

You don't say what your concern with the effects loop is, but I can tell you it works great. One of the best loops I have here. On the power cord issue, if you peek inside I think you'll find there isn't much room right there where that cord goes in - at least I recall seeing that in print here somewhere. You need at least an inch or so of free space behind the panel for a power socket.

My MAZ 38 head has a permanently attached power cord. The only way you're going to rip it out of the back of the head is by going out of your way to do so. Relax, these are extremely well built, reliable amps!

Ditto RXES and Route 66 with a fixed cord, and my MAZ Jr as well, as I recall. Hang in there, Jake. You're in for quite a ride...

Look on the bright side, you'll never get to a gig and go "Dang, I left my power cord at home!" ;D

The power cord came loose on the Mazerati head I had. The dealer fixed it easily but I couldn't for some reason. Z uses a standard restraining clip that has worked fine on many amps for many years. My problem was just a fluke. About 15 years ago I was playing on the booze cruises down at the Lake Of The Ozarks. My Marshall head had the removable cord which I did leave at home. No Radio Shacks or other stores that would carry a cord like that for miles. I ended up going to a hardware store and buying a coffee pot cord with a hard plastic connector. I smashed that end off and used the two female connectors inside to slide on to the two power prongs in the socket on the amp. Worked fine but not safe and no ground either. I never forgot my power cord again! Now you can buy those cords everywhere.

I made that mod (granted it's on the low end of the amp modding spectrum ) to my Rte 66 and Mazerati heads. My Z-28 and Ghia are easy access with no screen panel. I have this pre-gig ritual (from my Fender days) of reaching in and making sure every tube is actually fully seated after the ride to the gig. I also replaced the KT66 tube clamps with Marshall mesh retainers... they haven't budged since I did it.

Would rather not go there again <GRIN> Smitty

So if there's a better way to do something, why aren't these things included already? (like the improved tube retainers)?

I in no way speak for the good Dr. but I will just say that words like BETTER and IMPROVED or subjective terms and open to individual interpertation. Better, well how much better and is it worth the extra trouble and expense? Different things matter to different people and you can't please all the people all the time.

I imagine it's also a priority thing, he's got bigger fish to fry. Stratdev: How did you do the velcro thing to hold the tube guard mesh on?
