Why would somebody even bother to bid $500 on an amp like that with 9 days left in the auction?

man I wish I hadn't put money down on a Stang ray cause this is the second stingray i've seen and would have bought either just to get the name. But if I get all my money back at the place I ordered from they take like five hundred bucks for themselves so I pretty much stuck. It would've been nice to have a stingray but I guess the sound is whats important. I keep telling myself that.

The faceplate on this one is the opposite of every other combo I have seen. Very interesting.

Arun, your right, Looks just like the faceplate on my Stingray head which IS opposite of my other guitar players Stingray combo and ALL the other combos I've seen...?? maybe a VERY very unique one... only combo I've seen like that... I have to do a double take every time I'm setting MY ray's levels to Shannons Ray combo's levels cause they're backwards... and If i'm not careful I'm trying to set my Volume where his Cut is set at....... Yeah I don't know. I had combo number 2 and it had the normal stingray faceplate, so this could be number 1? There also seems to be piping that is going across the top of the faceplate which my combo does not have. Number 2 did not have the piping or whatever either.

Something looks odd on the left end of that panel - is that a Photoshop job there? What the... Arun, I think you're right - look at the controls, they are in exactly the same positions. That IS a Photoshop job. What would be the motivation for that?

I don't know. He could have a Stingray and just does not have a camera. So he found one that looks like it and then used photo shop. Though it seems to be a lot of extra work to do to just sell the amp on ebay. I would at least state that that is not a pic of the amp. My Spidey sense is tingling on this one.

Arun I think you've got it, thats why the pipings on the top... and the grey backgound / floor matches too... as bentop said, the controls are identical in both pics...it's gotta be a photoshop job... it's quackin like a duck....
somebody ought to contact E-bay and at least have them check it out before somebody does get duped if it IS a fraud!
I've got a contact in the Florida Dept of Law Enforcement (head of their cybercrimes unit) I could call him tommorrow to get him to check it out... he's caught some fake stuff Like what this MIGHT be on E-bay... could see if he could check it out?
maybe it's like you said with the pic thang, but I smell a rat.... like you said, why didn't he say he didn't have a camera or state that this isn't the actual amp...

calls R gonna be done tomorrow, but I've also asked him a question about the amp as if I am interested in it... to see if he can send me some more pics.. and see what he'd say about it... I WANNA know his IP/ ID and anything else I can to give to the Lt. at the cyber crimes unit... and I'm gonna e-mail him a link to THIS thread as background info to show that it looks like it COULD be a fraud with the photoshop deal... we'll see.

Just when I thought I'd be getting myself one heck of a 37th birthday present along comes "Super-Tas" to the rescue and lets me know something is suspect. I am currently the highest bidder at $1025 but look like I'm going cancel my bid. Hmmm, haven't been on the forum for a couple of weeks now, as I'm running a little low on funds this time of the year when the taxman come call-eth. I thought avoiding the forum will help my G-A-S, I must be the only one who's homepage is, instruments.search.ebay.com/dr-z_Musical-Instruments_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8QQsacatZ619Anyway I get an email within Ebay from TAS,log onto the Forum and there you have it, SAVED IN THE NICK OF TIME! I emailed the seller and have asked for some more pics,of the back of the amp, sides, top and asked for the serial number as well. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FELLOW FORUM Z' BROTHERS. KARMA to you TAS for your email to me on Ebay mate!

The seller has a perfect feedback rating... I know we live in a society where we are all quick to judge, but try to communicate with the seller before jumping to conclusions. If the seller doesn't get back with you in a timely fashion, can't provide detailed information, (where amp was purchased/when purchased/pics) and you get the heebie jeebies...don't bid/cancel. Also, see if you can do a secure form of payment...it doesn't have to be paypal. Hey, we would all like a roadtrip to Nashville every once in a while maybe you can meet him there to pickup the amp. maybe our forum friend Jayson Chance would pick it up for you. My 2cents. 6strang

. KARMA to you TAS for your email to me on Ebay mate! No worries mate, it's probably nothing sinister but when you're importing an amp from another country and all the hassle that goes along with it, you want to know you are getting what you expect to get. BTW, happy birthday!

Talk about your alien sightings on the National Enquirer... I don't know how I missed that. I'm a graphic artist and use Photoshop for a living and I can tell you with absolute certainty that it was doctored. You'll notice the faceplate is more pixelated than the cab. Plus you can see the cut line at the top of the face plate with blond tolex beneath the white tubing. That's not up to Doc code to say the least. Pretty amateurish if you ask me.

Another mystery Stingray! The first was of course, the 1x12 combo w/ 15w blue alnico. Now a combo with a reversed faceplate?? Interesting the seller has a perfect rating...probably a misunderstanding just like the case with the 1x12.
Looking forward to getting the 'real' story on this one...
