Anyone doing this? I've got plenty of clean headroom (more than Celestion Blues need) and was considering this at next quad change.

Tried a few different sets, at the time the Mullard Reissues were my favorite
The 7189s were punchier, sounded great Can't see anything about them you'd dislike
The only set I wasn't crazy about were Tung Sol, little heavy to the bright side

Yes. I have them in my stingrays. Love them! They seem to last many hours as well.

Gonna join the club of 7189 tubes in my Ray!
I dropped a set in my Ray before the show last night - kind of last minute, but brought my EL84's as backup.
I immediately LOVED them! The take a little of the hi-fi sound away, but it's still there. Makes it a little more pedal friendly as well, by adding a little more mids in just the right place.
If anything negative at all, I'd say it slightly stiffened up the feel just a little bit, but after playing for 15 minutes, I didn't notice it.
By the end of the night, I felt my Ray had one of it's best nights, if not the best night, of preforming with my little rock/country power trio.

Are you guys using new old stock or other? I got mine form Perry Roper, he's here on Z-Talk (actually did mine through Facebook, since he's a FB friend).
